00:00A tight game that they edged as they have been doing this season, they've had a very
00:04good season, a very strong side particularly here. I thought first half was a close affair
00:09but we weren't where we wanted to be so I made changes for the second half. I thought
00:13we were stronger second half and we're getting to key areas and that's been a challenge
00:17since I've been at the club, finding that last moment, you know, people passed when
00:20they could shoot and that sort of thing and the final cross, the final finish and we don't
00:25find that so it's very frustrating. It's a tight game that went against us.
00:30What were the injuries?
00:34Well a couple of injuries of course, so we had to monitor that. A couple of players,
00:38yeah he got a knock, Lindstrom, yeah. So we had to monitor that. We're looking at ways
00:43of operating, you know, we think Harrison's done well and he's shown really strong signs
00:47in what he's been doing. Give him some minutes in the game, you know, and trying to find
00:51a way of opening up, stopping their left side whilst promoting, Young, you can cross
00:56it. Pato, as we know, is a more attacking style full-back. You know, it's that kind
01:01of trying to build a momentum that could go and win the game.
01:03Despite that, the few shots on target, 81 minutes to get one against Forest the other
01:07day, what needs to change?
01:09Yeah, you need to change the amount of shots we get on target and the amount of goals we
01:13score, that's what needs to change.
01:14Do you think you can do that with the squad you've got?
01:16Well, we've certainly been trying. We've been trying for two years to do that. It's very
01:20difficult to find players who are that cutting edge and ones who can score a goal.
01:24What options do you think you've got?
01:26Well, we've got a couple injured now, a couple of centre-forwards injured, so Yousef's injured
01:30and Brogia we'll wait and see. We're using the squad that we've got.
01:34How concerned are you by the failure to initially turn the court?
01:39Well, it's a reality. I've said since I've been at the club, I knew the reality. Well,
01:41I didn't actually. When I first got here, let's say the reality shifted significantly,
01:44which we've spoken about. But these are the realities. You know, this is a squad. These
01:49are the players we've got. This is trying to constantly mould players into a more offensive
01:54unit whilst defending properly.
01:56What reassurances can you give to Barron?
01:59No reassurances of any kind, because the reality of football is every time that whistle blows,
02:03no manager can reassure anything. No manager can reassure every result goes your way.
02:07Have you said too much in this case of the season and the relegation battle?
02:11No, I've never said anything other than the facts of the facts. At the beginning of the
02:14season, there was all this noise about we've had this big window and we can do this and
02:18we can do that. The last season in the old lady and all that sort of stuff. And I made
02:21it clear. I said, I don't know where that's all come from. I made it clear at the beginning
02:24of the season. I made it clear at the end of last season because you were there. And
02:26I said, by the way, there is miles to go with this story, miles to go. And there still is.
02:30The new ownership will bring stability. They've made that clear. And over time, they'll build.
02:35That's it. The rest of it is as is. The rest of it is working constantly with a group of
02:40players to try and win football matches. But I tried to make it clear. Everyone said they
02:43wanted the truth. I told them the truth and then don't the truth. What do you want me
02:46to tell you? I've tried to be honest with you. Keep asking me. I keep reflecting on
02:50the truth that I've told you.
02:55Yeah, I mean, well, to be fair, it's unusually for Jared. He could head it. And I don't really
02:59know, you know, his moment to sort of, you know, just sort of, I don't know, it flew
03:03over his head. But I think, you know, he's a big lad, Jared. So that was a surprise.
03:06But that's the bit of freedom we're talking about. You know, they're doing well at the
03:10minute. They're playing with freedom. You can clearly see that. They knock it in the
03:13corners. They play long, but they believe in it. They run after it. That's a compliment,
03:16by the way, not a criticism. And the lad comes in and just strikes it. There's no other thought
03:21than just striking a goal. He's not overthinking it. And that's what confidence brings. It's
03:25that freedom to go and just play. Go and play. Go and play with freedom. Hit the ball. Feeling
03:29in the stadium is positive and all them things. That's what confidence brings.
03:35Yeah, he made a couple of good saves. Saves that he would expect to make. He's a top goalkeeper.
03:44Well, we've had it so many times. So it's a frustration because, you know, last season,
03:52we got so many good positions. And we mentioned the other day to the local media that I'm not
03:56going to bore you with it now, but how high the XG was, which means you're creating chances.
04:01This season, slightly lower, but still making chances. And the killer moments change goals.
04:06It's simple as that. You know, goals change games. We all know that. And I say all the time,
04:10not just the scoreline, the feeling of a game and the feeling of a performance.
04:14And that's what we're looking for.
04:27No, no, no. It was a close in scoreline. I didn't say about the performance. The performance,
04:32I thought we were a long way off. I think I made that clear first half. Then I changed that
04:36and I thought we got slightly better. I didn't think I made that clear. I hope I made that clear.
04:40I wasn't saying we got radically better. I just thought we got better second half. We
04:44looked more offensive while still defending properly.
04:49No, I just think, you know, the feeling around what we're doing, it goes down again. So therefore,
04:55we've got to challenge ourselves to deal with that. And these players have dealt with a lot.
04:58I remind you that. And I remind myself that often. They've dealt with a lot, these players.
05:02And I said to them, I said, lads, it's another thing you've got to deal with collectively.
05:06But they've dealt with a lot, these players, and they've got to deal with more,
05:09because it's a never-ending story.
05:13Yeah, he had a personal issue during the week that we had to sort out.
05:18Thank you. Cheers.
