00:00So today is the annual stock take at London Zoo. Now the reality is we obviously know every day
00:05how many animals we have here but this is our formal annual stock take where we're counting
00:10all the animals. We've got over 10,000 animals from over 400 species so actually we won't even
00:17manage to get it all done today. It'll take us a good few days but then we'll get it all loaded up
00:22formally onto a database called ZIMS which is shared globally with all other conservation
00:28zoos and then that helps us plan our critical endangered breeding programs here at the zoo
00:34and other zoos can do the same. So counting all of them is also part of our zoo license
00:38so that's something that we'll report through to our local authority that's Westminster Council
00:42and enables us to be sure that we've got it all written down, digitalized and therefore
00:48something that we can share with other collections around the whole world.
