00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on all parties to read and accept the statement
00:05issued by the palace earlier today on granting pardons.
00:09He said people must read, understand, and accept the command issued by East Dhananagara
00:14earlier today.
00:15The palace said any proposal for a prisoner to be granted a pardon must be submitted to
00:19the pardons board for consideration.
00:22It also said the king holds the prerogative to grant pardons under Articles 42 Sub 1 and
00:272 of the federal constitution for offenses committed within the federal territories.
00:32The statement comes amid plans for a rally that will be held on January 6, the same day
00:37that the Court of Appeal hears Najib Razak's application on a purported order placing him
00:42under house arrest.
00:43More than 200 busloads of Najib's supporters from UMNO and PAS are expected to attend the
00:48rally at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.
00:51Yesterday, MIC Deputy President M Saravanan said thousands of party members will also
00:56attend the rally.
