00:00Good morning to our countrymen after a long holiday break. We will talk to Atty. Manuel Jeffrey David, head executive assistant of the Manila International Airport Authority.
00:13Atty. Good morning to you. Thank you for the update on the first news.
00:18Good morning sir Ivan.
00:20We are asking for your numbers. What is our update on the passengers that were reported yesterday and that we are expecting to fly today?
00:30Well, yesterday we reported 154,707 passengers. If we will total that from December 15 until yesterday, around 2.8 million passengers traveled to our country.
00:47Our forecast for moving forward from today until January 5, which we are forecasting for, we're still expecting around 620,000 passengers on an average of 150,000 per day.
01:02That's a lot. So we haven't seen the peak yet of those who will return to Metro Manila.
01:09Yes. In fact, what we are expecting is on January 5, around 156,000. Although, that remains to be seen sir Ivan because we haven't seen the numbers for today.
01:23But yesterday, our numbers, we have around 154,000. So the number of passengers is increasing.
01:37How is the passenger experience at the airport during this time? Of course, that's a lot of foot traffic with a lot of passengers. How is it?
01:48Our typical bottlenecks would be the immigration line, considering the rush of the passengers during peak hours.
01:58But during light hours of the airport, we see that it's just light queuing. So if you will experience a long queue during the immigration, that's because our countrymen are arriving at the same time.
02:17So I would like to apologize.
02:20Our facilities, air conditioning, x-rays, we don't have any problems?
02:25We don't have any. There was a reported incident before regarding heightened temperatures, but it's not the same as before.
02:34So we experienced a slight heat, but it's not because of the lack of air conditioning.
02:40Of course, because of the number of flights, we don't have any incidents of delay or canceled flights?
02:48We have incidents of delay, sir Ivan. It's not that we don't have it. It comes with the territory of running the airport.
02:57But from January 1 to January 2, we are tallying an on-time performance of around 82 percent.
03:05How is your assessment, sir, now that our airport is under privately operated?
03:12We have to give credit to NNIC, which is the operator of the airport.
03:17They have brought efficiencies in running the airport.
03:21We can see that if they need to improve or fix something immediately, they can do it immediately.
03:30So like what we said about the heightened temperatures, when it was reported, they acted on it immediately.
03:37That's why it didn't take long.
03:39The number of passengers for 2024 is record-breaking. What is our forecast and projection for 2025, sir?
03:47We are on track to exceed that. We are really barring any unfortunate incidents, sir.
03:54We are on track to exceed that because number one, the population of the Philippines is growing.
04:00Number two, the Philippines is becoming more attractive for tourism.
04:04Number three, the volume of traffic is also increasing as far as passengers are concerned.
04:11In fact, our concession agreement with NNIC provides for them.
04:18The airport should be able to accommodate 60 million passengers.
04:22So that is the goal of the project. So hopefully, we get to hit that number.
04:28And of course, again, better passenger experience in our airport.
04:33Thank you very much, MIA Head Executive Assistant Attorney Manuel Jeffrey David.
04:38Good morning. Thank you.
