Bears interim coach Thomas Brown discusses the restrictions placed on Caleb Williams with audibles and calling timeouts.
Transcript
00:00Very little, so most of it is based off of being able to have it built into a particular
00:11call or being able to have an alerted play like I just talked about before with the be
00:14a run to run, run to pass, run to play action pass, run to keep or vice versa.
00:19Obviously from a third down standpoint it's a lot more pure progression, less of coverage
00:25base reach, not a lot of man versus zone alerts to kind of be able to alleviate some
00:29stress off of him.
00:30So this is stuff that kind of shows up in the game when it comes to possible zero pressure
00:34where he has some flexibility to kind of get in and out of certain plays.
00:37But for the most part, not a whole lot.
00:40Yeah, kind of to the response of a couple of previous questions when it comes to what
00:44he has control over, what he doesn't have control over, when he breaks the huddle, my
00:49goal has been to try to figure out ways to take pressure off of him and make the game
00:53simpler for him.
00:54So when it comes to timeouts, I'll control those.
00:56I would say pre-snap mechanics when it comes to understanding potential pressure threats,
01:01but also mastery of what happens post-snap, obviously having a reaction of how they played
01:05out coverage-wise, what pressures they bring, but also understanding where all my quick
01:08element throws are if we have an opportunity for that.
01:11I think at times as well, understanding how to maintain proper pocket integrity.
01:16So being able to hitch in place and not run yourself into a potential sack, but it's all
01:21a level problem.
01:23Yeah.
01:24Yeah.
01:25Yeah.
01:26Yeah.
