00:00The Department of Health continues to support the absolute ban of fireworks in the country.
00:05While there is no such order yet, the local governments will decide
00:09where the designated community firecrackers or fireworks display zone can be set off.
00:15J.P. Soriano has the first news.
00:21A part of the body was cut off,
00:24or maybe it was blown up,
00:26but what's more dangerous is that it can lead to death.
00:29In the 2024 earthquake, for example,
00:32two people died after a firecracker exploded
00:36after a man smoked a cigarette while drinking.
00:41More than 600 people were injured in the firecrackers,
00:44according to the DOH during the 2024 earthquake.
00:50These scenarios are avoided as much as possible whenever the new year is approaching.
00:56That's why in Vasra, Quezon City,
01:05the barangay officials are now going around to remind their barangay
01:10the designated community firecrackers or fireworks display zone
01:14if it will be set off and lit.
01:19Do not set off firecrackers in houses, especially on terraces.
01:22In December of last year, the Quezon City passed an ordinance
01:26that it is prohibited to set off firecrackers in public places,
01:29even outside or in front of the house.
01:32In Vasra Barangay, in this mini park, it is allowed to set off firecrackers.
01:36Before the DPOS approves a designated area,
01:40it must comply with the safety requirements of the fire code,
01:44such as having a large space and no adjacent fire hazard structures.
01:50It is only legal or designated firecrackers or fireworks
01:54that can be set off on December 31.
01:57Ian says it is supported,
01:59that it is now traditional to set off firecrackers whenever the new year is approaching.
02:04Just feel it, all the firecrackers are in the middle
02:08so that we can avoid the fire.
02:12Because unlike the previous new year, it is really everywhere.
02:17But caution is still needed,
02:20because accidents cannot be avoided.
02:24Just like what happened in Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental this December,
02:29when instead of going up, the fireworks went to the spectators.
02:34The lights were dimmed because of the strong wind.
02:38No one was injured in the incident.
02:41The health department continues to impose an absolute ban on firecrackers,
02:46but as long as there is no law regarding this.
02:49We should be strict with the community enforcement
02:52that we should not set off firecrackers at home,
02:55only in designated areas.
02:57This is the first news,
