00:00This year, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and the House and Senate

00:09have passed some important bills and new laws, hoping to help boost the economy in the country.

00:14But aside from that, many will not forget the series of hearings on various issues.

00:20Let's go back to the action in the 2024 highlights of Mel Alasmoras and Daniel Manalastas.

00:30In the name of changing the country and improving the lives of Filipinos,

00:50President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. passed some important bills.

00:55Now, in 2024, the House and Senate will pass them.

00:59This includes the Republic Act No. 12066 or Create More Act,

01:04which regulates the regulations on value-added tax and duty incentives

01:09to improve our economy and increase opportunities in the country.

01:15There is also the RA No. 12076 or Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act,

01:21which orders the construction or construction of permanent and storm-resilient evacuation centers

01:27throughout the country.

01:28There are also new laws passed by the President for the sectors of education,

01:33agriculture, health, and overseas Filipino workers,

01:37as well as for the protection of our territories,

01:40such as the Philippine Maritime Zones Act and the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act.

01:46The bills were passed in a thorough study and discussion in Congress before they were passed.

01:52But aside from this,

01:53some major changes were made to the bills this year.

01:58In the Senate, there were changes to the left-hand side of the investigation,

02:01such as POGO, the War on Drugs, and many others.

02:04But the change of the leader was also a highlight,

02:07after the change of Senator Francis Escudero

02:10to Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri as Senate President.

02:13Today, I offer my resignation as Senate President of the Republic of the Philippines.

02:21And upon stepping down, I vow to serve as an independent member of the Senate,

02:27my allegiance as ever belonging only to the Filipino people.

02:31I leave with my head held high,

02:36knowing that I did what is right for the Senate and for the nation.

03:02knowing that I did what is right for the Senate and for the nation.
