00:00Oh, Hades! You finally made it. How are things in the underworld?
00:04Well, they're just fine, you know, a little dark, a little gloomy, and as always, hey,
00:08full of dead people. What are you gonna do?
00:10Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today, we're counting down our picks for those Disney
00:14characters that are the most out there, whether in a good or bad way.
00:18Where the heck are my mannerisms?
00:20Huhuhu, I-I'm r-r-r-r-riffic-ing r-rific-i-ments for all!
00:24Ehehehehehe! Coming right up!
00:26Number 10. Pleakley and Jumba, Lilo & Stitch
00:30What are you doing?
00:31Nothing!
00:32Uh, say? I want to try it on.
00:34No!
00:35Che!
00:36Hey, hal!
00:36You just jealous cause I'm pretty!
00:38Granted, Pleakley and Jumba are both aliens from totally different worlds,
00:42so maybe their personalities are considered normal where they come from.
00:46But, judging by the Grand Councilwoman's reaction to them,
00:49we suspect not.
00:51Don't let those two get on my ship.
00:53Neither one of them knows about Earth customs,
00:55so part of their strangeness comes from them simply trying to fit in,
00:59and not knowing exactly how to figure out what fitting in means here.
01:02Which, of course, is also what the whole film is about.
01:05Jumba's weirdness tends to be a bit subtle,
01:08certainly compared to the worried and anxious Pleakley.
01:11He's very persuasive.
01:13Persuasive?!
01:14What exactly are we doing?
01:16But their odd ways of expressing themselves endear themselves to viewers,
01:20and make a fun movie even more entertaining.
01:22Well, that'd be a bad idea!
01:24These are extremely simple creatures, miss.
01:27Number 9.
01:28Jafar, Aladdin
01:30Oh, dear.
01:33Oh, how frightfully upsetting, had I but known!
01:37It would be easy to go with the genie for this entry.
01:40After all, he was voiced by Robin Williams,
01:42whose performances often made unhinged in art form.
01:45Aladdin!
01:46Hello, Aladdin, nice to have you on the show.
01:48Can we call you Al, or maybe just Din?
01:50How about Ladi?
01:51Sounds like- here, boy!
01:52Come on, Ladi!
01:54But we went with Jafar,
01:55perhaps because his villainy is the unhinged flip side of the genie.
01:59Jafar doesn't let his evil burst through for much of the film.
02:02Instead, he lets it boil over in smaller moments,
02:05until he's free to at last embrace his full vileness.
02:08Who thought you could defeat the most powerful being on Earth?
02:13Squeeze him, Jafar, squeeze him like a-
02:16Ah!
02:17Like, stripping the sultan to his skivvies and making him an actual puppet?
02:20That's a little extra.
02:22And of course, wanting to become a genie so he can be all-powerful.
02:25Very scary.
02:26The universe is mine to command, to control!
02:31Fortunately, that desire for power fittingly brings about his downfall.
02:36Number 8.
02:37Hades, Hercules
02:38Hey, how you doing?
02:40Looking good, nice dress.
02:41One of the things that makes Hades such a memorable villain
02:44is how he defies expectations.
02:46He is absolutely evil, but for much of the film,
02:48Hades provides great comedic moments,
02:51often due to his reactions to how his plans get foiled.
02:55You know, I know, I got it, I got the concept.
02:58There are quite a few reasons why Hades comes all unhinged.
03:01The writing is key, of course,
03:03as the script builds in situations that get under the character's skin
03:06and justify his severe mood swings.
03:08You've gotta swear she'll be safe from any harm.
03:11Fine, okay, I'll give you that one.
03:13Mega safe.
03:14Otherwise, you get your strength right back at it.
03:16You had a fine print boilerplate back home, okay?
03:17And the animators make great choices,
03:19such as that head of flames that can change to reflect his moods.
03:23But it's the pitch-perfect performance from James Woods
03:26that ultimately makes the biggest difference.
03:28The actor makes inspired choices that are right in character,
03:31but nevertheless surprise and delight.
03:34Fine, so instead of subtracting two years from your sentence,
03:36hey, I'm gonna add two on.
03:38Number 7.
03:39Maleficent, Sleeping Beauty.
03:41Look, we've all suffered a snub that hurt or offended us,
03:44but most people get over it and move on.
03:46Well, quite a glittering assemblage, King Stefan.
03:50Well, not this evil fairy.
03:52Maleficent takes holding a grudge to a whole new level.
03:56And what's that supreme insult that ticks her off?
03:58Not getting invited to a christening.
04:00That's right, because she is not asked to celebrate the birth of Princess Aurora,
04:04she decides to basically dedicate her life to getting revenge.
04:07Before the sun sets on her 16th birthday,
04:11she shall prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel.
04:15When the curse she gives as a gift gets sidetracked,
04:18she rages and rants.
04:19And even when the princess does fall under a sleeping spell,
04:22she goes to extremes to keep her asleep.
04:29Even going overboard with the thorns and ultimately turning herself into a dragon.
04:33Um, a little perspective, maybe?
04:36Number 6.
04:37Tigger, Winnie the Pooh franchise.
04:41Hello, I'm Tigger.
04:43Okay, so some might think unhinged is a tad harsh
04:46to describe someone as lovable as Tigger.
04:48But if in real life you had a friend who was constantly as boisterous,
04:52energetic, and off-the-wall as Tigger,
04:54you might think differently, no matter how much you love him.
04:57Tigger certainly never means to cause any trouble.
04:59He just simply has no concept of how wild he is compared to those around him.
05:04That, combined with a tendency to run into things, and friends,
05:08and a habit of flying off the handle can make him a bit of a menace.
05:11But his heart is so good and his enthusiasm so catchy,
05:14that he makes being unhinged very appealing,
05:17especially from a distance.
05:23Number 7.
05:24The Tigger, Winnie the Pooh franchise.
05:26Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh,
05:30Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh,
05:33Number 5.
05:34Peppa, Encanto.
05:37As with Tigger, perhaps unhinged is a little much to describe Peppa,
05:41especially when she's just in a normal everyday situation.
05:44But even then, Peppa tends to be emotional and a little,
05:47or a lot, on the dramatic side.
05:50There's nothing inherently wrong with that,
05:52but when you can control the weather,
05:54and that control is influenced by your emotional state,
05:56well, things can get a bit messy.
06:02With her tendency to swing between ups and downs,
06:10she can create a fair amount of trouble.
06:12But she's basically a well-intentioned and good person,
06:15just one who needs a bit more control over her emotions.
06:26Number 4.
06:27Captain Hook, Peter Pan.
06:29Obsession can be a terrible thing.
06:32Just ask Captain Hook.
06:33He is so obsessed with defeating Peter Pan
06:36that he can't really think about anything else.
06:45And we get it.
06:46Peter is the one who cut off Hook's hand
06:48and gave it to that crocodile
06:49who now wants to eat the rest of the captain.
06:57But Hook is stuck in an endless cycle
06:58of trying to capture and kill Peter Pan,
07:01failing and trying again.
07:07For that matter, Peter is stuck in it too.
07:09But Peter has other activities as well.
07:12Besides, he keeps winning,
07:13so he's fine with fighting Hook over and over.
07:16But Hook, if you're never going to succeed,
07:18it's okay to give up eventually
07:20rather than just go off the rails.
07:26Number 3.
07:27Donald Duck, Various.
07:31You know, when he's not irritated,
07:33Donald is as sane as you or I.
07:35But once the duck's hair-trigger temper is set off,
07:38it's batting down the hatches time,
07:40and we wouldn't have it any other way.
07:45Indeed, half of the fun with a Donald cartoon
07:48is wondering what exactly is going to get under his skin
07:51and when it's going to happen.
07:53It's hard to understand him under the best of circumstances,
07:56but once he gives in,
07:57he's ready to go.
08:01There's no deciphering the torrent of sounds that gush forth.
08:05And though he may have displayed
08:06some impressive physical comedy before,
08:08it's usually when the madness overtakes him
08:10that he hits new visual heights.
08:19Number 2.
08:20The Mad Hatter, Alice in Wonderland.
08:28So the character's name's kind of a giveaway, right?
08:31With that moniker,
08:32you don't expect him to be placid and pensive, do you?
08:34And thanks to Ed Wynn's voicing
08:36and the animator's skillful work,
08:38he delivers on that name.
08:47Of course, in Wonderland,
08:49practically all of the characters are at least a little mad,
08:52but few of them are as delightfully crazed as the Mad Hatter,
08:55whose tea party is far livelier than most.
08:58Granted, he's not someone you want to entrust
09:00your valuable time pieces to,
09:02and he certainly is not the best host.
09:05But for zany company that will always keep you on your toes,
09:08he's hard to beat.
09:12Before we unveil our top pick,
09:14here are a few honorable mentions.
09:17Yzma, the Emperor's New Groove.
09:19She's vain, selfish, corrupt,
09:21and horrible at choosing henchmen.
09:28King Magnifico, Wish.
09:34The demented king destroys wishes,
09:36and parts of the Disney canon.
09:44Mr. Toad, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.
09:47That manic look in his eyes means there's no stopping him.

10:07Number 1. Cruella De Vil, 101 Dalmatians
10:21You don't have to be an animal lover
10:27to realize that killing 99 Dalmatian puppies
10:30just to have a fur coat is going a bit overboard.
10:32But ignoring what others think in order to get what she wants
10:35is what Cruella De Vil is all about.
10:38I don't care how you kill the little beast, but do it!
10:40And do it now!
10:42She's so over the top that it's hard to believe Anita was ever friends with her.
10:46Certainly in the present day,
10:47Cruella has no consideration for her old chum.
10:50She also has no qualms about insulting Roger.
10:52-"As I know, I know!
10:55Rogers!
10:57Rogers songs!"
11:00And when it looks like her plans might get derailed,
11:03she is positively psychotic.
11:05Like, who drives like that?
11:07Only someone whose grip on reality is tenuous at best.
11:10-"Oh, the devil take it!
11:12They're mongrels!
11:13No spots!
11:14No spots at all!
11:15What a horrid little white rat!
11:17Which unhinged characters would you most want with you in a visit
11:20to a strange and possibly dangerous new world?
11:23Let us know in the comments.
11:25-"Finest explorer I ever met.
11:27Preston Whitmore.
11:28Pleasure to meet you, Milo.
