00:15It's getting more exciting to receive and count money this Christmas.
00:20This December, Banco Central ng Pilipinas will release
00:24the new designs and complete set of money.
00:30Banco Central ng Pilipinas has already published
00:33the first Philippine Polymer Banknote Series.
00:36BSP will present the new money to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:41The new designs are made of polymer or plastic,
00:44just like the P1,000 that was released in 2022.
00:48It's more durable because it's not easily torn or wet.
00:51That's why it's said that it can last for more than 7 years.
00:54It's safer because it has an advanced security feature
00:58just like a hologram.
00:59It's not easily infected by the virus and is eco-friendly
01:02because it can be recycled.
01:05In the past, it used to look like figures printed on money.
01:08Now, it's replaced by animals and plants
01:11that can be found in the Philippines
01:13and reflect the rich biodiversity of our country.
01:17For example, the P1,000 has an eagle and a hawk printed on it.
01:22You can also see the Visayan Spotted Deer for P500.
01:25The Palawan Peacock is for P100.
01:28While the Visayan Leopard Cat is for P50.
01:33President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said
01:36that the release of the new money is important
01:38because according to many countries,
01:41like Australia, Canada, and Singapore,
01:43new designs of money are issued every 10 years
01:47to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
01:51It's just good to strengthen and make sustainable
01:54the new money that we're struggling with.
01:58Maan, for now, the number of new money
02:01that will be issued in Metro Manila this December is limited.
02:05But when January 2025 comes,
02:09it's expected to have a wide distribution.
02:12And Maan, according to the Central Bank of the Philippines,
02:15the old money, like this one,
02:17can be replaced by new polymer banknotes,
02:21like this one.
02:24That's the latest.
02:25Back to you, Maan.
02:27Alright, thank you very much, Claisel Pardilia.
