A 32-year-old cave explorer was successfully rescued on Wednesday (Dec 18) after falling eight meters into an unexplored section of the Bueno Fonteno cave in Bergamo, Italy, where she had been trapped for 75 hours.

00:13The Alpine rescue teams were alerted to the incident on Saturday evening by eight other
00:17cavers who were part of her team.
00:20Piana fell eight meters into an unexplored section of the cave and suffered multiple
00:24injuries, including fractures to her vertebrae, ribs, facial bones, and a knee.
00:37She was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Bergamo for further treatment.
00:41This is not Piana's first accident in the same cave.
00:45In July 2023, she was trapped for 40 hours before being rescued.
