00:00In the face of the completion of the operation of the POGOs,

00:03the government will soon impose a tax on their properties and other assets.

00:09According to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin,

00:12the process will be speeded up, but it will surely be careful and fair to the government.

00:22Following the government's cancellation of all POGO licenses in the country since December 15,

00:29the government is now speeding up the process of forfeiture,

00:33or the collection of POGO sites in favor of the government.

00:36This is the answer to some senators' opposition to the Anti-POGO Act,

00:41which will allow the government to have access to the assets and properties,

00:46including the houses where the POGOs were operated,

00:49facilities, materials such as gaming equipment, and gaming paraphernalia.

00:54According to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin,

00:57there is a law on the forfeiture of properties through any crime,

01:02so there is no need for the President to issue a directive on this.

01:06However, the forfeiture process of these is just taking a long time.

01:16The forfeiture process is very slow. It comes usually at the end of the proceedings.

01:22Even now, the government is doing everything to speed up the process,

01:26but they will still be careful about this to be fair to the owners of the POGO sites.

01:32I read that in the newspapers, I know that it is the Senate that will look into it,

01:38but we are already doing everything to hasten the process,

01:42except that we have to give further assistance to whoever appears to be the owner of those assets.

01:49We cannot just grab them.

01:51But we have already in place existing laws and regulations about the forfeiture.

01:59When asked where the POGOs are planning to use the forfeiture,

02:04Any kind of purpose that is legit for the government to use these properties.

02:10Yesterday, the largest POGO hub in Island Cove, Kawit, Cavite was closed

02:14under the leadership of DILG, PAGCOR, PAOK, and PNP.

02:18Marien will be remembered as the directive of President Marcos Jr.

02:21in his 3rd State of the Nation Address on the banning of POGOs in the country.

02:26However, the government assured that they will stop the POGO guerrilla operations

02:30or activities of these POGOs in spite of their total ban in the Philippines.
