00:00Yesterday, they opened the Green Hills-West Krame Connector Road here in San Juan.
00:05As you can see behind me, this is the road that will go to West Krame.
00:10That's what you're looking at.
00:12That's the end of the road that will go to Green Hills in San Juan.
00:16And this road is expected to help reduce the heavy traffic, especially in EDSA, especially this holiday season.
00:25We can see here that there are still not that many motorists passing by,
00:31probably because they don't know about this road yet, and because it was just opened yesterday.
00:37But eventually, of course, when motorists are traveling, they are really looking for,
00:42if not the shortcut, the wider roads.
00:45And for us to know how this will help reduce the heavy traffic,
00:51especially this holiday season, we can talk to Atty. Victor Nunez.
00:55He is the director for Traffic Operations Group of MMDA.
00:59Atty. Nunez, good morning.
01:01Good morning, Ma'am Susan, and good morning to all of your viewers.
01:11Atty. Nunez, yesterday, motorists opened this part of Green Hills-West Krame Connector Road.
01:20How can you see that this will help reduce the heavy traffic,
01:24especially here in the connecting roads, Santolan and EDSA?
01:30Yes. Actually, the opening of Eisenhower, that particular road,
01:37has been seen by MMDA for a long time, more than five years ago.
01:43The only problem is that it's a private property.
01:47But we're very thankful for the initiative of LG San Juan under the leadership of Mayor Francis Zamora,
01:55that the local government of San Juan bought the particular property,
02:02so that Eisenhower can be directed out of Third Street in West Krame, out of Buenos Aires.
02:16It's a big thing to build an alternative route from Quezon City to Green Hills.
02:27You can also go out from San Juan going to Quezon City.
02:32Usually, you will go to EDSA, Annapolis or Ortigas going to Green Hills.
02:41But now, with the opening of the road and the opening of Eisenhower going to Third Street in West Krame,
02:51it's really a good thing that it will help.
02:55It was also included as a new livelihood.
03:01So we need to maintain that road free from obstructions
03:06because definitely, a lot of people will use and benefit from the opening of that particular road.
03:15Number 3 question.
03:18Atty. Nunez, you said that it will be busy because it will be divided into livelihood lanes.
03:25But we saw that there are a lot of houses here, a lot of businesses along the street.
03:32So what is our plan here to make sure that it will be spacious and that the motorists will be able to pass here
03:41considering that we will be doing this or this will be included as one of the livelihood lanes?
03:47Yes, Ma'am Susan.
03:49When Mayor Francisa Mora and Chairman Don Artes talked yesterday,
03:55when it was opened, they talked that we will put more signages
04:05and study the traffic management plan so we will be able to hear more people using that alternative road.
04:15We also need public information dissemination so more people will know about this new road that would link Quezon City and San Juan,
04:31especially going to and coming from Green Hills.
04:40So as you can see, opening this road will help a lot with the traffic situation,
04:51particularly here near San Juan and Quezon City, this part of St. Olen Road at EDSA.
05:02Yes, Ma'am Susan. Actually, since last week, before it was opened, the clearing operations were conducted by the local government of San Juan,
05:13together with MMDA, our special operations group.
05:17That is the message of our good Mayor, Mayor Francisa Mora to those who live there.
05:25It should always be free from obstructions.
05:29There should be no illegally parked vehicles in that area.
05:33We hope that the road will remain unharmed because we think many will use it, especially this Christmas season.
05:44Yes, Ma'am.
05:47We hope that the road will always be clean and there will be no vehicles passing through here
05:55because it is considered that there are a lot of houses here.
05:58So as you said, there should be a lot of signages so that motorists will not get lost.
06:06Thank you very much, Atty. Victor Nunez, the Director of MMDA Traffic Operations Group.
06:11Good morning to you, Atty. Nunez.
06:13Good morning. Thank you very much, Ma'am Susan. Thank you.
