01:49Hello, welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisa Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:53We begin with...
01:54In Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro congratulated the people for their wide participation in
02:00the elections of Justices of Peace on December 15th and calls for a new public consultation
02:17of the coming year.
02:18With the purpose of opening 2025 with new communal projects.
02:21In preparations to Venezolana de Televisión, he committed that Venezuela will have four
02:24fixed consultations per year, plus two others to approve projects for youth and projects
02:29linked to culture.
02:30Maduro described as beautiful the election day to elect judges and congratulated citizens
02:36elected in this historic day of December 15th, 2024, when for the first time Justices of
02:42Peace were elected by direct vote of the Venezuelan people.
02:49Venezuela continues to build a different kind of government and democracy, a process that
02:53was evidenced with the massive turnout for the election of Justices of Communal Peace.
02:59Details with our correspondent Gladys Casada.
03:03Close to 20 million Venezuelans were summoned to the polls once again this Sunday, this
03:08time to elect the Justices of Peace.
03:11An instance of the communal power designed to settle minor disputes, family or neighborhood
03:17unrest, as well as to maintain order and civility within each commune.
03:23It is the first vote of this kind in the country.
03:28Today we are very happy and grateful to God because since very early in the morning we
03:33are here in the voting center to exercise our right to vote and thus continue to ensure
03:40the peace of our country, Venezuela, as our President Nicolas Maduro has indicated.
03:49From here we can show the whole world that we are a symbol of peace, Venezuela is a symbol
03:54of peace, and that is why I exercise my right to vote on this beautiful Sunday.
04:01The opening of the center was at 8 o'clock in the morning without any inconvenience.
04:05Thank God we have had enough people coming to the center.
04:08So far there are no problems at the voting center.
04:12This process will officially see 15,000 peace justices and their respective alternates elected
04:19from among 52,288 registered candidates.
04:25Thus it is in compliance with the provisions of the Organic Law of the Special Communal
04:30Justice of the Peace Jurisdiction approved last November.
04:37This is the result that we are offering the revolution.
04:39This is the proof that our President Nicolas Maduro can count on the organized people,
04:43on the popular power, on the communal councils, on the local committees of supply and production,
04:48and the communes, to continue advancing and transforming our beautiful Venezuela.
04:55With this voting, the nation also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the current constitution
05:01approved under the government of late Commander Hugo Chavez.
05:05Today we are seeing the popular power, and 25 years ago we were moving as a Venezuelan
05:15people, exercising our right to vote.
05:20And we managed to reach 71%, more than 71% voted yes to this constitution of the Bolivarian
05:26Republic of Venezuela, which is allowing us today to crystallize that article 258.
05:35We all said yes to that article 258, which is currently being implemented in each of
05:40the territories, when it says that all justices of peace must be elected by a direct, secret
05:45and universal election.
05:49Venezuela advances in the construction of the communal state, the future of popular
05:53governance and the conception of horizontal structures from the people and with the people.
06:00In Ecuador, seven people died and at least two children were injured after a massacre

06:17on motorcycles, broke in and started shooting.
06:20Five members of the family died inside the house, while two others were chased and later
06:24killed.
06:25Minutes later, a contingent of national police arrived at the scene to begin the investigation.
06:31According to official figures, between January and November, the number of violent deaths
06:34fell by 18 percent compared to 2023, but the number of homicides this year still exceeds
06:416,000.
06:42In Panama, on the 35th anniversary of the military invasion by the U.S. government,
06:51several guilds condemned the crimes against humanity committed against innocent civilians.
06:57Local media reported that next December 20th, the day of National Mourning, will open a
07:03window of recognition to the victims of a criminal operation that destroyed the peace
07:07of the country.
07:08Likewise, they stressed that the perpetrators of the violation of sovereignty were not sanctioned
07:15at the time, stressing that the rule of the aggressors continues.
07:19In related news, the lawyer representing the victims recalled that in 2018 they were able
07:24to hold Washington accountable for compensating the victims and survivors of these attacks,
07:29but this achievement has not been broadcast.
07:33The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, arrived in Mexico with the objective of advancing
07:39a bilateral agenda with President Claudio Chimbaón.

13:05during the re-advance a few days ago.
13:07These devices were placed near the Tunisian school and near the Martyrs' Mosque, Abdul
13:11Aziz Al-Hansi, in a locality in Gaza City.

13:23Strip.
13:28In Palestine, the Israeli army attacked several areas in the Gaza Strip, killing 69 civilians
13:34in the last 24 hours.
13:36Israel continues its process of ethnic cleansing, despite constant condemnation from the United
13:40Nations, which has called for a ceasefire on more than one occasion.
13:44The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has warned that Israel's actions are aimed at crippling
13:48the movement of compatriots and dismembering the West Bank in order to undermine any chance
13:54of establishing a Palestinian state.
14:00And the Israeli regime once again targeted a United Nations safe haven school in the

14:54They bombed the school, which was a shelter for children, and there were no resistance
14:58fighters or anything in it.
14:59They were all children, and we were sleeping.
15:02So why didn't they tell us to evacuate the school?
15:04How can they bomb a school?
15:08And the Israeli regime approved a plan to increase the number of settlers in the Syrian
15:12Golan Heights illegally occupied since 1967.
15:15The decision comes days after seizing more Syrian territory following the overthrow of
15:20President Bashar al-Assad and the seizure of power in Damascus by extremist factions.
15:26Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the government had unanimously
15:30approved the demographic development of the occupied territory, which would seek to double
15:34the Israeli population there.
15:36The new plan applies to the part of the Golan Heights that Israel has occupied since 1967,
15:42and where some 31,000 settlers live in dozens of illegal settlements.
15:52The president of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, through a statement on his former telegram

16:04Part of the statement states the following, quote, I did not leave the country in a planned
16:08manner as has been reported, nor did I do so in the last hours of the fighting.
16:13I remained in Damascus, fulfilled my responsibilities until the early hours of Sunday, December
16:198th, 2024.
16:21He continued explaining that Moscow requested the base command to organize an immediate
16:25evacuation to Russia, and the option of asylum or resignation was never considered, neither
16:30by him nor any person or entity related to him.
16:33Al-Assad followed reaffirming that since the first day of the war, he refused to exchange
16:37the salvation of his homeland for personal benefits, and stood by the officers and soldiers
16:43of his army on the front lines, at the most critical and dangerous points of combat.
16:48Al-Assad finished by saying, end quote, this does not imply in any way a renunciation of
16:54my national and authentic belonging to Syria and its people, my commitment to Syria is
16:58unwavering regardless of any position or circumstance, and is filled with hope for the return of
17:04a free and independent Syria, end quote.

17:23is expected to rise.
17:25The International Committee of the Red Cross warned that the conflict could lead to disease
17:29outbreaks and the collapse of the country's health system.
17:32It is worth noting that the United Nations International Organization for Migration said
17:37that the number of internally displaced people in Sudan is more than 11 million.
17:49Leaders of the Economic Community of West African States met at a summit with three
17:53member countries led by military governments on the verge of leaving the bloc.

18:29three countries would officially cease to be members of ECOWAS as of January 29, 2025.
18:36The Authority decides to set the period from 29 January 2025 to 29 July 2025 as a transitional

19:08The leader of the People Power Party announced his resignation amid growing political conflict
19:14following an impeachment motion in the National Assembly to remove President Jun Suk-yo.
19:19Han initially assured that he would continue to serve, but his stance changed after five
19:24members of the party's Supreme Council expressed their intention to resign.
19:27A serious political crisis erupted in the country after President Jun Suk-yo decreed
19:31the imposition of a short-lived martial law last December 3.
19:43I am resigning from my position as the leader of the People's Power Party.
19:50The resignation of the Supreme Council members has destroyed the Supreme Council,
19:54making it impossible for me to carry out my normal duties as the leader of the party.
20:03I sincerely apologize to all the people who are suffering from this emergency situation.
20:10The now former party leader admitted that bloodshed could have ensued if the martial law had not been lifted.
20:19If we had not lifted the martial law that night, there could have been bloodshed between our citizens
20:24who would have taken to the streets and our young soldiers the following morning.
20:28That night, I was deeply afraid that I might not be able to prevent such a tragedy.
