Scheim has a different take on the Mayo quote, "You said it. I didn't"! Was this a shot at AVP? Is there a rift between Mayo and Van Pelt?
Transcript
00:00Yeah, Gerrard's in a little too deep, and I actually have a different take on this Gerrard comment that I think you guys do
00:05I feel like this was premeditated
00:07This was a retaliatory shot directly at Alex Van Pelt
00:11for what Alex Van Pelt said on this station on Friday to Jones and Keefe
00:14where he basically threw Gerrard under the bus for the conservative nature of the play calling
00:19where he said, I simply call the plays, coach decides if we want to be aggressive or not
00:24And so, in my mind, this was planned
00:29Regardless of the question, at any point in time, any opportunity he got
00:33it felt like Gerrard Mayo was going to find a way to take a shot back at Alex Van Pelt
00:38if they lost this football game
00:40Wow!
00:40And that's exactly what this is
00:42So, to me, I sense a massive rift between Mayo and Van Pelt
00:47I think it probably started in the offseason with the Drake-Major-Kobe-Bresset issue
00:51and has since festered to this point
00:53where they're now taking shots at each other in the media
00:56And I, like, dude, you're the head coach, you're in charge
01:00Stop, like, this should not be a thing
01:02You need to be better than this, you need to take control of this
01:05And I do not feel like Gerrard is handling it quite well
01:09Oh, I love that chime, I love this conspiracy
01:12I didn't hear that
01:13Well, because, basically, he was, Alex Van Pelt was foisted on him
01:18and it's not his guy, it's Elliott Wolf's guy, so
01:21Well, I didn't hear the Jones and Keefe thing where he's like, well, listen
01:24I don't decide whether or not we're conservative or aggressive
01:29That is very interesting
