HELLIE and Jean have been together for just under 2 years. Hellie identifies as a real-life vampire. Jean already knew via TikTok that Hellie was a vampire when he got into the relationship, but says he did not grasp the whole extent of her lifestyle. Over time Jean says he started to realise how serious Hellie is about her vampiric lifestyle and that she wasn't just playing a character online - Hellie lives a real life vampiric experience. Claiming to be depleted of energy, nauseous, irritable and dizzy when out in the sun and, she needs to “feed” energy from others, whether that be out in public or from Jean himself, who has agreed in the past to provide Hellie with energy. Jean says that when the couple got together, friends began to turn their back on him, “they wanted to know i was making the right decision being with Hellie, they said she was an attack on religion and made outlandish comments which terminated the friendship”. He says sometimes when he mentions Hellie’s identity to people, he gets asked 20 questions and says “some people stiffen up and seem uncomfortable about it”. A local newspaper ran an article about Hellie and afterwards in the town grocery store another shopper approached Hellie and asked if her fangs were appropriate. She says she gets stares every time she’s out, has been harassed in the street and as a result, she no longer feels comfortable in current town they live in.

07:33It really takes the fun out of my day to be in the sun all the time
07:37and not have like at least a hat or sunglasses or something.

07:47because even though like the sun has gone down a little bit,
07:50I still need to make sure that like my skin is protected.
