00:00The Federico II Foundation brings to Sicily a corpus of works by Pablo Picasso, artist and man, in all its mutability and its contradictions.
00:13Celebrating Picasso, inaugurated in the splendid frame of the Royal Palace of Palermo, will show, until next May 4, 84 works and a video session in a refined setting inside the Duke's Hall in Montalto.
00:26We are very happy and proud of this work, of what the Federico II Foundation has managed to produce.
00:33After several months of interlocutions with foundations, public and private museums, not only Italian, but European, they certify the good work that the Foundation is doing.
00:48And today, with these 84 works, we collect a summary of an exhibition absolutely above any kind of expectation that we could imagine.
00:59Precious treasures from the Kunstmuseum in Münster, from the Picasso Museum in Antibes, from the Marte in Vavereto, from the gallery in the new town of Voma and from private collections.
01:10Without a doubt, it is a great window that opens, both qualitatively and quantitatively, through the central core of the works of the Kunstmuseum Picasso in Münster,
01:22but with additional loans, including the extraordinary painting of the fisherman with the beret that comes from the museum in Antibes.
01:31The Federico II Foundation, led by its President Gaetano Galvagno, always committed to creating international relations,
01:38wanted to organize the exhibition on the great artist born in Malaga to give continuity to the ability to generate great cultural events
01:45that can consecrate Palermo as a port of attraction in the cultural and artistic offer in all 12 months of the year.
01:52I would first like to thank the Honourable Gaetano Galvagno, President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly and President of the Federico II Foundation.
02:01This partnership between two prestigious institutions, such as the Foundation and the Pablo Picasso Museum in Münster, opens the way to other international projects.
02:11The curator of the exhibition, Marcus Müller, wanted to highlight how Pablo Picasso is considered a great revolutionary and destroyer of traditions.
02:19Picasso I, guest of Federico II in Palermo, an unusual and original meeting.
02:28In addition to the works of art, the exhibition also includes the photographs of the American photographer David Douglas Duncan.
02:38As I said, by May 4th we will have more than 1,600 pre-booked tickets.
02:47This means that when the level is raised a little, there are immediate answers.
