00:19As of this December, the Commission on Elections ordered the printing of balotas for the January 2025 election.

00:28This was explained by COMELEC Chairman George Erwin Garcia.

00:31This is because COMELEC is yet to resolve the disqualification cases for the candidates.

00:40Even if it is a petition for the nuisance candidate in a local position, they are only 80 percent done.

00:47That's why they will ensure that the list of candidates is clean before putting it in the ballot box,

00:53to avoid stray votes or the voting of voters who are not candidates.

00:59This is the statement of COMELEC Chairman George Erwin Garcia.

01:02That's why we aided January 6 to resolve the cases.

01:07We aided the cases because the respondents will say that they aided the cases because they want to print balotas immediately.

01:17So we made the final decision on January 6 at all costs.

01:22Even if they will print balotas in January, their schedule will not be affected for the preparation of the election.

01:32But they will not extend the deadline to January 6.

01:36Meanwhile, COMELEC is cleaning the list of candidates.

01:40Just yesterday, the first division of COMELEC issued a decision to cancel the certificate of candidacy of incumbent Mayor Marci Todoro

01:49for the congressman in the first district of Marikina.

01:53The decision was revoked because Todoro's statement was not correct, not to his residency, but to his COC.

02:00Garcia explained that the address of the candidate is different from the original address.

02:07Todoro moved from the first district in April to the second district and he returned to the first district in August.

02:16That's why he's not allowed to be a congressman.

02:21He can appeal to COMELEC and the bank, but for Chairman Garcia, he will be inhibited from the case because he became his client as a lawyer,

02:33Senator Coco Pimentel, who is a petitioner or one of the petitioners of the case.
