01:02Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Lesus Studios in Havana,
01:07Cuba.
01:08Let's begin with the news.
01:25This year, ALBA-TCP celebrates its 20th anniversary.
01:28Next Saturday, Venezuela will host the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Governments of
01:33the Alliance.
01:34Let's learn more about its history in the following segment.
01:44Hello.
01:50On December 14th, Caracas will be the epicenter of the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Governments
01:55of the ALBA-TCP.
01:57To know what this multilateral mechanism is all about, let's watch the following report.
02:01ALBA-TCP is a regional international organization founded in 2004 by the governments of Cuba
02:07and Venezuela to counter the free trade area of the Americas promoted by the United States.
02:14ALBA-TCP currently enrolls Latin American and Caribbean countries with the firm objective
02:20of fighting poverty and social exclusion based on leftist ideological doctrines.
02:28This mechanism prioritizes equality and the common good in relations between nations by
02:33fostering regional dialogue, by identifying areas for strategic alliances and by promoting
02:39consensus and agreement among Latin American nations.
02:47The International Anti-Fascist Conference laid a fundamental proposal that all social
02:52movements worldwide should take ownership of the Bolivarian Alliance and its capabilities
02:57to strengthen their struggle to stop fascism forever.
03:04I am here to tell you about an experience, about a reality that emerged 20 years ago.
03:11What is ALBA?
03:13It was suggested by Hugo Chavez, but who created it?
03:20Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, no less.
03:23That is to say, that ALBA has foster initiatives that even today the BRICS regards as vanguard
03:30initiatives.
03:34And on a day like this it is fitting to remember a phrase of Commander Hugo Chavez.
03:39ALBA is a dream come true, it is the hope of our peoples.
03:43With this statement Chavez expressed the hope that ALBA represented for Latin American and
03:48Caribbean as it offered an alternative to neoliberal models.
03:54And with the aim of building a new multipolar world, the leader of the Cuban revolution,
03:59Fidel Castro, stressed the importance of ALBA in its creation.
04:03He said that ALBA is an integration project born out of the need to build a fairer and
04:08more equitable world.
04:10Fidel Castro stressed the transformative nature of ALBA which sought to overcome inequalities
04:16and build a new world order.

04:33the ALBA-TCP 24th Summit in Caracas.
04:44Let's now go live with our correspondent in Caracas, Belen De Los Santos, for all the
04:48latest in a run-up to this Saturday's Summit of ALBA-TCP Heads of State and Government.
04:55Hello, Belen.
04:59Exactly, Luis, we are here in Caracas and as we have been covering, this week marks
05:0620 years from the creation of the ALBA integration mechanism.
05:12We are in the House of ALBA today and as we were saying, it's 20 years since the creation
05:16of the mechanism.
05:18This was created by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez in the year 2004 and it was intended
05:25to be and continues to be a mechanism that wanted to counteract or propose a new way,
05:33a new model of building solidarity opposed to the proposal of a free trade area for the
05:41Americas.
05:42So instead of a free trade area for the Americas that was rejected in the early 2000s, this
05:48mechanism, the ALBA, intends to build on solidarity, on cooperation, on an economic integration
05:54that is built towards the mutual benefit of all the member countries.
06:01So this was started by Venezuela and Cuba, then joined by Bolivia and then many other
06:07partners and also associates nowadays.
06:11And this week is key here in Caracas.
06:13Today we are at one of the first events that is within the week.
06:18The main summit will take place on Friday and Saturday, specifically on Saturday with
06:23the heads of state and government here in Caracas that are coming here to celebrate
06:28this anniversary, this 24th summit.
06:31But today in the House of ALBA, we have a gathering of the ALBA youth.
06:36So youth representatives from all the different ALBA countries have come here together.
06:42And what they are doing is they are representing and recreating a political council for the
06:49ALBA.
06:50So this is really an activity to foster the internationalism, the cooperation among the
06:57youth of these countries, to model what really an exchange, a cooperation, a discussion among
07:05the ALBA countries is like.
07:07Of course, ALBA is not only thinking about the integration today and this week, as this
07:13has been happening during the week and during the year, but also it's thinking about the
07:19future.
07:20It's thinking about how this mechanism can be projected on the years to come.
07:25So the youth, of course, play a central role in this area.
07:29So that is what is happening inside.
07:31We are outside the premises of the House of ALBA right at this second.
07:35And while the youth are discussing, sharing their views on a very complex geopolitical
07:41world nowadays, also there are part of diplomatic bodies that come from the ALBA member countries
07:49who are observing the activity.
07:51They are looking and assessing and just taking in the activity that is being led by the youth
07:58as a model of how this cooperation mechanism works, has been working for the past 20 years
08:04and will continue to work.
08:07So this is one of the first activities in this week that celebrates the 24th ALBA Summit
08:12as we had been saying.
08:14And of course, tomorrow we will have more activities here in Caracas.
08:20Also the social movements that are part of the ALBA movements are also coming and gathering
08:26on Friday.
08:28Also the foreign ministers are going to be gathering during this week and the week will
08:32have its climax, its main point on Saturday when the heads of state and government of
08:38these countries are going to come together, discuss the regional challenges and also all
08:45the possible roads for cooperation, for solidarity in this mechanism that really tries to show
08:51the world that there is a way for the countries to collaborate, to cooperate and to grow in
08:58which the economy is a means for the development of the peoples.
09:02So that is what this week is all about.
09:05We will continue to bring you all the information here from Caracas throughout the week.
09:10Today we are at the House of ALBA and now I go back to you Luis.
09:23Thank you Belen for the information.
09:25We will stay tuned in the upcoming news brief for everything that is happening today and
09:28throughout the week in the upcoming of the 21st Summit of the Heads of State of Government
09:32of ALBA.

09:44Welcome back.
10:09The leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, blamed the United
10:14States and the Israeli regime for the situation in Syria where terrorist groups seized power
10:19after overthrowing President Bashar al-Assad.
10:21The Iranian leader met Wednesday with thousands of Iranian citizens from different strata
10:25in Tehran to tell them they have proof that the plot was planned in command rooms in Washington
10:31and Tel Aviv.
10:32Furthermore, the Ayatollah claimed that a country bordering Syria was involved, which
10:37he might have referred to Turkey.
10:39In this sense, Khamenei pointed out that these nations are seeking to take over lands
10:43in the north and south of Syria, while the United States aims at strengthening its presence
10:48in the region.
10:49Likewise, the Iranian leader denied speculations about the weakening of the axis of resistance
10:53highlighting his confidence in the Syrian youth will expel the invading forces.
11:04It is crystal clear that the underlying foundations on the Syrian events were the making of a
11:08coordinated joint plan of action between the U.S. and Israeli command room.
11:12The main conspirators, the key plotters and the control room are located in the United
11:16States and the Zionist entity.
11:18We have evidence of this and it leaves no room for doubt or hesitation.
11:24While chaos and uncertainty are spreading in Syria, hegemonic media outlets are trying
11:29to whitewash the image of the terrorists who seized the capital, describing them as rebels
11:34and opponents of the post-President Bashar al-Assad.
11:37Concurrently, allegations emerge evidencing how the leader of the terrorist group was
11:41trained by the CIA and has been militating in ISIS and al-Qaeda for more than 20 years.
11:46Let's see the details in the following coverage.
11:52The recent seizure of Damascus and the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad plunges the country into
11:57a wave of violence led by the Syrian terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, who is preparing
12:03to take control of the nation through fear and weapons.
12:07According to governmental allegations, they are being carried out with US armed support.
12:12However, while chaos and uncertainty reign in the population, the hegemonic media such
12:17as CNN and its allies try to clean the image of the terrorist leader, qualifying him as
12:22a rebel and opponent of the now former President al-Assad, without mentioning previous crimes.
12:29These media sources make their best effort to paint in colors the gloomy political and
12:33social scenario in Syria.
12:36Assuring that today there is joy and celebration, but instead, the attacks do not stop, just
12:41as Israel takes the opportunity to extend its lands under the pretext of protecting
12:46its borders.
12:48The leader of this movement, which Washington now classifies as a rebel group, is Abu Mohammed
12:53al-Jolani, also the creator of the al-Nusra Front group, an al-Qaeda branch.
12:59According to reports by some media dedicated to the truth, al-Jolani was trained by the
13:03CIA for five years at the Bukha camp in Iraq and has been an ISIS and al-Qaeda fighter
13:08for more than 20 years.
13:10However, in 2017, the terrorist leader had an international arrest warrant issued by
13:15Al-Jolani.
13:33Condemned the aftermath of the Israeli incursion into their territories, one of them was the
13:37head of the Colonization and World Resistance Commission, Mu'ayyad Shaban, who spoke out
13:41against the destruction of the Kirbet Al-Tawil village, nearby the Akraba city.
13:46In addition, the leader urged international and human rights institutions to safeguard
13:50the Palestinian people from the systematic attacks of Israeli forces and settlers.
13:54The authority drew attention to the fact that Israeli bulldozers have demolished homes,
13:59agricultural lands, and the power grid serving the Kirbet Al-Tawil area.
14:13In Palestine, the Gazan civil defense warned of approaching to disrupting all services
14:17in the territory due to the Israeli aggression.
14:21Ending these services will affect over two million Palestinians.
14:24In this context, the civil defense denounced that since the onset of the Israeli offensive,
14:29the occupation forces have deliberately attacked their facilities and vehicles.
14:33It further blamed Israel and its staunch U.S. ally for the destructive aftermath.
14:39The entity noted that an immediate and permanent ceasefire is necessary for humanitarian reasons,
14:44in addition to making sure aid arrives quickly.
14:55On Wednesday, South Korean police raided the presidential office and police headquarters
15:00as part of the investigation into the imposition of martial law by President Jung Suk-kyo.
15:06The raids were carried out at the government office, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Headquarters
15:10and the Parliamentary Police Headquarters.
15:12During a meeting with the Parliamentary Legislative Committee, the chairman of the Office for
15:16the Corruption Investigations of High-Ranking Officials, Ho Dong-hoon, assured that a thorough
15:21investigation was underway and that Jung's arrests would be requested if the necessary
15:27conditions were met.
15:29President Jung is banned from leaving the country as he is under investigation for committing
15:33treason, mutiny and abuse of power, allegations that also hang over several senior government
15:38and military officials.

17:15The Bolivian Navy has added a robot to its ranks that can dump large amounts of water
17:20and fight off wildfires.
17:22The handmade robot built by the Bolivian Armed Forces will join the ranks in the fight against
17:26wildfires two months after fires ravaged at least 10 million hectares.
17:31The robot, named Erizo, was presented on Saturday in the city of Cachabamba by President Luis

17:37It can be taken directly to the heart of the fire and can carry 3.8 tons of water to put
17:42out the wildfires.
17:43In September and October, Bolivia experienced the biggest fires in 10 years, which led the
17:48government of President Arce to declare a national disaster.
18:01We congratulate the Bolivian Navy for the work it has carried out through its Department
18:05of Technological Innovation, for having created four prototypes of forest fire trucks and

18:43in the western Californian city of Malibu.
18:46The California Fire Department said the fire, known as Franklin, had burned more than 2,200
18:51acres in less than 24 hours and was spread along the Pacific coast.
18:56It has forced the closure of roads and schools until further notice in central and eastern
19:00Malibu, home to more than 10,000 residents.
19:04Firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze, which started last night near Malibu
19:08Canyon Road and Malibu Creek State Park.
19:16Our trees are catching on fire, houses are catching on fire.
19:20There was fire every single direction you look.
19:22You can't really see it right here, but we're in this kind of valley, mountain range area
19:29right now and we're completely surrounded.
19:31There was hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of acres on fire and embers flying everywhere.
