00:00Most Rangers fans know a wee bit about the Loving Cup, but I'm going to expand on that.
00:04In 1937, Sir Francis Joseph of Stoke had 30 of these made for the coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth.
00:12Once the last one was made, they broke the mould, so nobody could replicate them.
00:1622 were given to the English First Division clubs, 2 to the promoted clubs,
00:211 to the English League, 1 to the FA, 1 to Sir Francis of Stoke, 1 to the Mary Stoke,
00:271 to the British Museum and 1 to the reigning monarch.
00:31However, prior to these being made, there was a minor disaster near Stoke
00:34and Rangers were invited down later in the year to play a game to raise funds for the people who had died.
00:40We didn't charge for our accommodation and we didn't charge for our transport.
00:44So all the money went to the dependents.
00:48The great Sir Stanley Matthews played in the game.
00:51We drew 0-0 with Stoke and there were 37,000 at the game.
00:54After the game, we're given, allegedly, the last Loving Cup.
00:59There's some doubt about whether it was Sir Francis of Stoke or Sir Joseph, but one proviso,
01:05that in the first home game of every year, whether it be the 1st of January or the 31st of January,
01:10in the Blue Room, it's normally filled with whisky, sometimes champagne,
01:14Rangers directors toast the reigning monarch, opposition do so and the guests do so.
01:19We've done that every year since 1938 and that's what my club's about.
01:23There's only six remaining Loving Cups.
01:25There's one at Huddersfield, Stoke, Portsmouth, Fulham, Everton and one at the SFA.
