00:00I'm not really looking for anybody right now, I'm just happy and content by myself.
00:04A bit frightened to go in another relationship so soon after everything that's happened,
00:10so I just try to avoid it at the moment.
00:13What's your name?
00:14My name's Lisa Horne.
00:15And where are you from?
00:16Inverness.
00:22My ex-partner through lockdown started assaulting me and hitting me and
00:27just being a narcissistic person towards me.
00:30He started pushing me and telling me I was wrong when I knew I was right and things.
00:37And then it just started getting worse.
00:39Then I started getting into bruises and biting and nipping and kicking.
00:46And then it just started out in the streets and then in front of my kids.
00:50I just started to hate him.
00:57I just, I needed someone to help, which my social worker Lisa.
01:02If it wasn't for her, I think I'd be still with him.
01:12But yeah, I'm through it now and I'm a stronger person and just living my life.
01:18I just wish he would just leave me alone.
01:26It was just a reality check that it wasn't normal what he was doing to me,
01:33which I thought it was normal what he was doing to me.
01:36Lisa asked me to do a Caledonian program for six weeks.
01:41She says, just try it.
01:42You don't like it after four to six weeks, then just leave it.
01:47And I learned so much from the Caledonian program.
01:50Then I was put on to another program.
01:53It was at the college in Crown.
01:55Every Tuesday, it was like a safe space for a couple of hours
01:58that you could talk about anything and it wouldn't come out the room
02:01and no one would judge you.
02:04I met a lot of other lassies and girls.
02:06I was the youngest by five, six years, but I met other lassies and ladies
02:12and we just inspired each other.
02:18It was hard when my mom came over and she'd seen my face.
02:23That was the hardest part.
02:26My dad, just disappointed.
02:29I felt like I disappointed him and I should have walked away
02:33when he told me to walk away years ago.
02:36You just can't help who you fall in love with, you know,
02:38which I thought he loved me, but clearly it was just his narcissistic ways
02:44you know, but yeah, my dad and mom, they're proud of me now
02:48that I've kept away for so long.
02:56Oh, yeah, yeah, cameras, make sure my phone's charged,
03:01make sure my other phone's charged and always check the doors.
03:06Or if a dog barks through the night, I'm up and I'm still quite nervous.
03:11I'm up and I'm still quite nervous at night, but even though there is cameras,
03:18but a lot of my neighbours have said that they've seen them
03:21walking along the canal, walking past, not my street,
03:25but up on the canal, walking along the canal.
03:28So I had to change where I walk with the dogs.
03:32I change it every time, or I'll get Alicia to come out with me
03:35or if Jack's up, he'll take a wee walk to the field
03:39and throw the ball for blue or something like that.
03:46Get help, speak to someone, listen to people, what they say,
03:51listen to if you feel that relationship's not right
03:56and you've got that gut feeling, go be your gut,
03:58your gut's always right or go be your heart, your heart's always right.
