Subaru of Indiana Awards $148K in Grants to 18 Indiana Nonprofits

00:00Of the 368 applicants, 18 Indiana non-profit organizations were awarded grant money to fund various projects.

00:08Since its start, the SIA Foundation has awarded more than $3 million to fund projects throughout the Hoosier State.

00:14SIA Foundation President Ed Wolbrecht is happy to play a role in supporting communities throughout the state.

00:20We do it to help people. If we can't do it ourselves, we can leverage the power of our company to help other people help others.

00:29So that's why we do this.

00:31Seven of today's grant recipients are from Tippecanoe County, including YWCA Greater Lafayette.

00:36Thanks to the grant, the organization will be building a privacy fence to expand its programming.

00:41Janae Croud of YWCA Greater Lafayette was there to accept the check.

00:45This fence symbolizes just another leg of healing for our clients.

00:49They're going to be able to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and just have a different sense of safety.

00:57Tippecanoe School Corporation was also among today's recipients.

01:00The funds will be used to help English learners in TSC schools.

01:03Amy Sturgeon from TSC feels like a wish has been granted thanks to the SIA grant.

01:08We're often scrounging, and so to receive a grant to be able to purchase something that can go into every school right away is super exciting.

01:17The application for the next round of SIA Foundation grants opens on January 1st.
