00:00What do you think of growing up there? I used to love watching Dave Parker play right field
00:11for the Pirates, the Cobra. And what did you think when he got into the Hall of Fame this
00:15week? I thought he was one of the most exciting players I ever saw. And I have never seen
00:21anyone ever throw a baseball from right field to home plate like that guy used to throw
00:27a ball like in the All-Star game to Carter. That was the most unbelievable throw on a
00:31rope I've ever seen in my life. I think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. I'm happy
00:36for him. Now, you're a little younger than me, so I don't think you remember Roberto
00:41Clemente and the throws he used to make from right field. I would take Roberto over Dave
00:47Parker in terms of how he patrolled that particular part of the baseball field. But I'm happy
00:53for him. I will say that when I was a teenager, I loved watching him play when I was a very,
00:58very, very young reporter and covering baseball. My experiences with him were not tremendous,
01:05but they weren't horrible either. He just was kind of not super excited about it. But
01:12he was a great player. And I'm very happy for him that he's going to get the Hall of
01:17Fame experience. Dick Allen is going to be in the Hall of Fame. He should have had the
01:22same experience, Scott. I hate when these things happen where people finally get around
01:27to putting people who are obviously Hall of Famers into a Hall of Fame. I wrote a column
01:32about this when the great Bill Nunn, who revolutionized NFL scouting with the Steelers back in the
01:39late 60s, early 70s. And he finally got into the Hall of Fame after not only he had passed,
01:44but his eldest son had passed as well. So neither of them was around to enjoy that moment.
01:50I'm glad Dave is and will be. I wish that Dick Allen had been granted the same grace.
