A part of Sauchiehall Street has reopened after months of being closed off.

A large stretch of the walkway has been closed off throughout 2024 which caused mass disruption as pedestrians were forced to use awkward diversions and could not walk from one side of the street to the other.

Fencing has been removed from the western end of the area between Rose Street and Cambridge Street, round about Primark and Boots.

A large chunk of the street has been closed off while work undergoes on the Avenues programme which is scheduled to be completely finished by 7 January 2025.

The work is intended to improve the appearance of the street which has suffered from a series of major fires and empty units within the past few years.

Contractors are also preparing a new drainage system and planting trees along the main sewage network.

The potting of these plants is designed to absorb rainwater.

What do you think about the works and how have you found the disruptions of recent months?
