00:00Elton John looks back at his life and career in the Disney Plus documentary Never Too Late.
00:05His rise to fame culminating in his famous Dodgers Stadium performances in 1975 is parallel with his
00:12farewell tour at the same stadium in 2022. As you'd expect, Elton is very candid, being open
00:18about his turbulent childhood, his rise to fame being a poor substitute for love, and his subsequent
00:24spirals into alcohol and drugs. Some of the best moments in the doc are the brief glimpses that we
00:29get of Elton's personal life, as well as the extensive use of archive footage, especially that
00:35of a Madison Square Garden performance with John Lennon. The main problem with this doc is that it
00:40covers almost all the same ground that Rocketman does, and that told Elton's story in a more
00:45interesting way that almost makes this feel superfluous. It's clearly designed to be an
00:49affectionate farewell, which it is, but it also feels very much like official biography, and those
00:55fans aren't going to learn very much new that they don't already know.
