00:00How far would you go to search for the truth, Jared Harris finds out in Reawakening.
00:0510 years ago, Harris and Juliet Stevenson's daughter Erin Doherty ran away from home
00:10and went missing. Then, one day, she reappears. Or does she?
00:15That kind of makes it sound like a thriller, but really, it's an intimate drama,
00:18and I was drawn in by the film's earliest scenes showing the breathness in Harris and
00:23Stevenson's lives, grief without any possibility of closure, and then suddenly that presents itself,
00:29but it feels strange and discomforting. The film's carried by three great central
00:34performances, Doherty is shy and taciturn, Stevenson is completely ready to accept this,
00:40but Harris is not, who has spent so long searching for his missing daughter
00:45that it's become his entire identity. There's elements of Reawakening that stretch
00:49credibility and some aspects of the story feel underexpanded upon, but the acting draws you
00:55back in. It feels like the kind of film that will find its audience on television,
00:58than it will in a cinema.
