Members of a U.S. Senate subcommittee took aim at airline executives about fees for seats and checked bags.

00:00I mean, you guys do appreciate that flying on your airlines is a disaster, don't you?
00:03I'm slightly amazed by the general attitude of all of you here.
00:07Flying on your airlines is horrible.
00:09It's terrible experience.
00:10And your attitude here today seems to be, well, devil may care.
00:13There's nothing we can do about it.
00:15Well, I think we are going to do something about it.
00:17We're all captives on your airplanes at a certain point.
00:20And you just say, well, you want to pick a seat.
00:24We're just going to charge you some random amount more.
00:27And what we're trying to get at is why and how much does it actually cost you?
00:32And so it would be good if you guys could be transparent about what you do and why.
00:40I hope your takeaway when you go back to your CEOs is that there is bipartisan frustration
00:50and even fury about the current practices.
00:54They simply won't fly anymore.
