00:00French President Emmanuel Macron is receiving a number of political leaders with the view
00:07of forming a government of general interest after the country's Prime Minister, Michel
00:12Barnier, was ousted by a no-confidence vote.
00:15This is why I will appoint a Prime Minister in the coming days.
00:21I will make sure to form a government of general interest, representing all the political forces
00:26of a government that can participate, or at the very least, that is committed to not censoring him.
00:33Public sector workers staged strikes across France to demand increased funding and staffing
00:38for public services, as the country waits to see who will replace Barnier and solve
00:43the enormous social issues facing the country.
00:47Macron also invited socialist leader Olivier Faure to the LEC, in a potential attempt to
00:51create distance between the left-wing coalition which took power in recent elections.
01:21Barnier and other ministers will remain in power to act as a caretaker government until
01:31the appointment of new ministers.
