00:00All that Mr. J Shetty has accomplished while you are here tonight presenting,
00:04what is it about the mission that he's driving towards that inspires you?
00:09Service. You know, J and I have known each other for
00:14almost a decade now and every conversation I've
00:19ever had with J, not with a camera present, has been about
00:23service and spirituality
00:27and how to bring light to the darkness, how to help people remember who they are.
00:32We share quotes from each other's faiths.
00:35We're always lifting each other up.
00:38And he is that person in so many people's lives.
00:42And I think that people need to know who he is off his podcast,
00:46off of social media, is exactly who he represents to be in front of social media,
00:52in front of cameras.
00:53And I think that's one of the most beautiful things.
00:54He's sincere in all that he does.
00:57I mean, your sincerity shines through as well.
00:59We've seen it with the success of Wayfarer Studios and all of the different
01:03films and TV projects you have brought to Hollywood.
01:07I'm so curious when it comes to obviously it ends with us.
01:10It's one of the biggest films of the year.
01:13How do you kind of calculate the success that Wayfarer has had thus far?
01:18I love that question.
01:20At Wayfarer, we built our studio on the idea
01:25that we have to have a double bottom line.
01:27And that is we have to do good.
01:31And then by doing good, we can do well.
01:33And those things are intrinsically connected at our studio.
01:37And I genuinely believe there's no algorithm, there's no computer or AI
01:42that can predict what happens when you can touch a human heart.
01:46And so everything we do at our company is driven by actual impact.
01:49And so it's impact first, it's story first, it's purpose first.
01:54And then ideally, hopefully, if we're right and it's made with sincerity,
01:58the people will show up, they'll be moved and they'll tell their friends and
02:01you have something as beautiful as it ends with us or
02:03as an example, Will and Harper, which we're so proud of.
02:07So that's how we make decisions, that's what impact is for us.
02:10And for It Ends With Us specifically, it's the thousands and thousands and
02:15thousands of messages that I have gotten personally from survivors,
02:20from children of survivors, from parents of survivors who've seen the film,
02:24felt like their story was represented on screen.
02:26And then even further, survivors who've had the strength to leave their
02:30relationships, to leave their riles and break the cycle themselves.
02:34That's why we do this, that's why we make movies, there's no other reason.
02:39It is to touch the audience and
02:41you actually opened up about how the experience of making that movie touched
02:45you, actually how emotionally taxing it was for you to direct and
02:51play Ryle at once.
02:54What was it that you learned from how tough that experience was?
02:58What are you gonna take with you into your next project?
03:04That God exists, that there is an unseen force that is always there guiding.
03:14And for me, that inspiration, that art comes from that place,
03:21and it doesn't come from me, it comes through me.
03:24And when you step forward with that intention,
03:26I just believe that you take one step, God takes two.
03:31And it might not be like a Hollywood cool answer, but
03:34everything about that project brought me closer to God and to my faith.
03:38And if there's ever a night that I can share that openly and
03:41publicly, it would be here, yeah.
03:43I know you all have the option for the sequel, is there any movement on that?
03:48We are just enjoying every moment of where we are today.
03:52In our industry and in our life, there's always this idea that we gotta be two or
03:57three movies ahead, or we never have a chance to just focus and
04:00celebrate where we are, we're always thinking about the next thing.
04:04And at our studio, and with me, and right now, and in my personal life,
04:07I'm really making an effort to just be here now.
