00:00We start with Bristol City, who were in desperate need of three points following two 1-0 losses
00:08in their previous two games against Burnley and then against Watford, but with the visit
00:14of Plymouth to Ashton Gate, it provided the ideal opportunity to right the wrongs.
00:21Anis Mometi delivered a standout performance as Bristol City overpowered Plymouth Argyll
00:26with a 4-0 victory in the Championship. Mometi contributed to three goals, scoring twice
00:31and assisting another, as the Robins climbed to 11th in the Championship table. The breakthrough
00:36came early in the second half and it was in the 57th minute, when Mometi's shot deflected
00:40off Scott Twylan into the net, and then, minutes later, he cut inside and found the bottom
00:45corner with a precise finish to make it 2-0. Mometi then got his second and Bristol City's
00:51third with a thunderous strike, taking his season tally to six goals. Substitute Sinclair
00:57Armstrong added a fourth late on. The comprehensive win showcased Bristol City's attacking prowess,
01:04leaving them well-positioned to fight for a play-off place for the rest of the season.
01:11Bristol Rovers, meanwhile, were in FA Cup action this weekend, having won one and lost
01:18one in their previous two games in League One against Mansfield and then Blackpool.
01:25They faced Barnsley, hoping to reach the third round of the draw and possibly tie a Premier
01:30League team. Meanwhile, Bristol Rovers advanced to the FA Cup third round with a dramatic
01:374-3 win on penalties over Barnsley after the match had ended goalless following extra time.
01:44Both teams had created multiple chances, with the woodwork playing a key role in keeping
01:48the scores level. The visitors almost took an early lead when Gatlin O'Donker's powerful
01:53effort struck the post just five minutes in. Track Fort also tested Barnsley keeper Ben
01:59Killip shortly after with a curling shot. Barnsley then responded with Stephen Humphreys
02:04and Kelechi Nowakali forcing saves from Rovers keeper Josh Griffiths, who delivered a standout
02:10performance throughout. Into the second half, and it was similar to the first actually with
02:17Adam Phillips thundering a header off the bar, and there were other chances as well
02:22for Barnsley and Bristol Rovers. Barnsley maintained the pressure further in extra time
02:27with further efforts going towards the Bristol Rovers net, but they were all kept out. Then
02:33in the penalty shootout, Rovers converted four of their five attempts through several
02:38of their players including Chris Martin, Real Solid True, Scott Sinclair and Shaq Fort.
02:44And then Griffiths in the Bristol Rovers goal capped his heroic night by saving the decisive
