00:00Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the best anime fight scenes to air in 2024.
00:19Number 10, Sakura vs. Togami, Windbreaker
00:30In a tournament of rival gangs, protagonist Haruka Sakura faces off against Joe Togami.
00:35The older right hand of the opposing gang seems like a real jerk at first.
00:39However, a flashback and the fight itself reveal his inner kindness.
00:43There's no flashy powers during their match, just punches, kicks and grapples.
00:54Yet it's all animated and choreographed so beautifully that it's still quite a spectacle.
00:58Sakura and Togami come to understand each other through their exchange of blows.
01:02And by the fight's conclusion, they're both enjoying themselves almost as much as we are.
01:06Sakura may hate that Togami gave up, but we'd love a feel-good ending to this feel-good fight.
01:20Number 9, Black Hole vs. Dalmeshman, Kunikuman, Perfect Origin Arm
01:25It may have been gone for a while, but this over-the-top wrestling anime franchise came back with a bang.
01:31This match pits Black Hole, a man with a literal hole in his face, against Dalmeshman, a dog-like fighter.
01:44As strange as the combatants are, their powers are even weirder.
01:47Black Hole lives up to his name and can suck matter into the hole in his face, as well as dive into shadows and create clones.
01:56Meanwhile, Dalmeshman can control his spots and turn them into projectiles, as well as become even more canine-like.
02:03However, despite injuring Black Hole repeatedly, Dalmeshman's dog nature proves to be his undoing.
02:09No bones about it. It's a wild, strange match, but it's everything great about this franchise.
02:14Four-Dimension Kill!
02:21Number 8, Will vs. Julius, Wistoria, Wand and Sword
02:33Since he was born without magic, Will Surford has plenty of opportunities to prove himself to the magic-using population.
02:39But it's perhaps most satisfying against the arrogant Julius Rheinberg.
02:43The ice magic user delights in ridiculing Will and attacking him with many ice clones in the arena.
02:49However, Will's incredible strength, speed and perseverance are all superhuman.
03:00Plus, there's the little fact he grew up with Alfaria, the inventor of the spell Julius is using, so he knows all of its weaknesses.
03:07Seeing Julius punched out is plenty rewarding on its own.
03:10The fantastic fight that leads up to it is just a bonus.
03:25Number 7, Ichigo vs. Yuhaba, Round 2, Bleach, Thousand Year Blood War
03:38Ichigo rarely defeats his opponents on the first try, or even the second.
03:42As he and his friends race to stop Yuhaba from killing the Soul King, Ichigo intercepts the Quincy Emperor.
03:48Things seem to go well at first, with our hero clashing with Yuhaba dozens of times in the air, and even hitting him with his new Getsuga move.
03:56However, Yuhaba reveals he was holding back, reactivating his power, the Almighty,
04:01which lets him see the future and utterly dominate it.
04:04This is the first time I've ever seen Yuhaba use his power in a fight,
04:07and I can't wait to see what happens next.
04:25To top it all off, he even tricks Ichigo into doing exactly what he wants, killing the Soul King.
04:45Ichigo may feel like number one, but this fight was just him living out his fantasy.
04:50It's still pretty great though.
04:52Number 6 – Free Ren and Fern vs Free Ren Clone – Free Ren, Beyond Journey's End
05:06The second stage of the first class magic exam has the ultimate raid boss, a double of Free Ren.
05:12The legendary elven mage takes herself on in a mirror match, assisted by her apprentice Fern.
05:17The two Free Rens throw all the high level spells they have at each other.
05:21While Fern snipes at the double whenever an opportunity presents itself.
05:33The fight is a non-stop awe-inspiring visual spectacle,
05:36with black holes, flames, purple lightning and a ton of other incredible attacks throughout.
05:41Fern is able to hit the double and create a chance for Free Ren to defeat it herself,
05:45though not without cost.
05:47In more ways than one, this battle is the height of magic.
05:51Number 5 – Natsu vs Mukphobia – Fairy Tail, 100 Years Quest
06:11The return of Fairy Tail to our screens also brought some knife fights.
06:15One of these sees Natsu pitted against Mukphobia, the brainwashed water dragon god.
06:20Mukphobia's size and opposing elemental magic proved tricky for the fire dragon slayer to deal with.
06:31However, after consuming the flames of Ignea, the fire dragon god, Natsu gets a power boost.
06:36His newfound strength lets him throw the huge dragon around with ease and land some devastating attacks.
06:42With a little help from his friends, he even manages to defeat the beast.
06:50However, Natsu's rage burns too hot, and Lucy has to risk her life to calm him down.
07:03Not all of us have a Lucy though, and this fight still has us fired up.
07:07Number 4 – Shigaraki vs Star and Stripe – My Hero Academia
07:12When Japan's in trouble, America's number one hero comes to their rescue.
07:17Unfortunately, Japan's worst villain, or one half of him, Tomura Shigaraki, is waiting.
07:23Star and Stripe and a squadron of fighters battle Shigaraki in mid-air over the ocean.
07:27Her wild ability to rewrite the reality of something she touches leads to some incredible moves,
07:46like making a giant version of herself out of air, or punching Shigaraki with cruise missiles.
07:51Although Star ultimately has her amazing quirk stolen and is killed,
07:55her last act is to set her quirk to destroying Shigaraki's other stolen powers from the inside.
08:08The setting, incredible imagery and high stakes help make this fight one we can't help but salute.
08:14Number 3 – Sonraku vs Weathermon – Shangri-La Frontier
08:34Sonraku's teammates also participate in his raid against this unique monster,
08:38but the bird-headed player does the lying share of the work against this undead cyborg samurai.
08:43Sonraku has to fend off Weathermon's many speedy attacks and weather-based moves,
08:47all the while learning the boss's patterns and getting repeatedly rezzed after dying.
09:01Eventually, Sonraku has to perfectly parry Weathermon's insta-kill move to defeat his foe.
09:06The final clash has some of the most impressive animations in this already excellently executed series,
09:12and sees Sonraku shatter Weathermon's armour and sword.
09:15Overall, it's a marvellous battle that perfectly captures the feeling of a boss fight,
09:20and for more reasons than the impressive graphics.
09:33Number 2 – Jinwoo vs Egris – Solo Leveling
09:43On his job change quest, Hunter Sung Jinwoo arrives at the throne room guarded by Egris the Blood Red.
09:50The knight commander has an overwhelming presence that utterly dominates Jinwoo in battle.
09:54While the hunter who can level up is his matching quickness, Egris has him beat in power,
09:59with his attacks frequently demolishing the room around them.
10:12The clean and fast-paced animation really lends the fight a tremendous sense of speed.
10:17Eventually, Jinwoo is able to land a surprise attack on Egris' face,
10:21giving him the opening to continue battering away until Egris falls.
10:28The duel is a crucial step on Jinwoo's journey, and the animators really did arise to the occasion.
10:34Before we reveal our top pick, here are a few honourable mentions.
10:38Leos' Party vs Red Dragon – Delicious in Dungeon
10:42The gang's initial quest culminates in slaying the dragon that ate Leos' sister.
11:00Canal vs Kuroki – Kengen Ashura
11:03The ultimate adapter faces the ultimate master.
11:09Tokoyuki vs Shokan – The Elusive Samurai
11:12Bigger and stronger doesn't mean anything if you can't catch your opponent.

11:53Although there were many exceptional One Piece fights this year,
11:56and Luffy's rematch with Luchi was certainly tempting,
11:59the future Pirate King's grandpa managed to show him up.
12:07Monkey D. Garp vs Kouzan
12:29Monkey D. Garp has to fight Kouzan, aka Aokiji,
12:32his former pupil to rescue his current student, Koubi.
12:35Kouzan's ice powers are formidable,
12:37yet at every turn Garp either shrugs them off or smashes through them.
12:53Emotions run high throughout as both men clearly still care for each other.
12:57The animation is also consistently jaw-dropping,
13:00particularly in their final clash, which sends both of them flying.
13:03An assault on our feels and a feast for the eyes,
13:06this is 2024's best anime fight.
