00:00The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 12 has launched initiatives to help improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged families.
00:08Through these efforts, thousands of individuals in the region have been empowered to enhance their quality of life.

00:21The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 12,
00:25through its Project LALAWA, or Local Adaptation to Water Access and BINHI,
00:30or Breaking Insufficiency Through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished,
00:35has given poor families in the region opportunities to gain extra income.
00:40The project started this year, benefiting over 8,000 individuals.
00:44It's a good product that was given to us because we are able to produce it in our own homes and sell it.
00:52So we are able to increase our source of income.
00:54Meanwhile, Jerry Dumdum, Information Officer of the Disaster Response Management Division of DSWD in Region 12,
01:02said the initiative, under the Risk Resiliency Program of the Department,
01:06was conceptualized to counter and help individuals and families cope with the effects of the recent El Niño phenomenon.
01:14The Project LALAWA and BINHI of DSWD is a great help for partner beneficiaries
01:19because aside from providing them with a temporary environment,
01:22they are also able to provide their own food supply, especially in the changing times.
01:31The DSWD Region 12 says it plans to replicate Project LALAWA and BINHI in other areas of subsurgent next year
01:39due to its positive impact on the piloted communities.
