00:00After the Vice President issued a death threat against the first couple and the House Speaker,

00:08it seems that it's now the patriarch of the political family's turn to hog the spotlight

00:13by issuing, at the very least, an eyebrow-raising pronouncement.

00:17No less than the designated caretaker of government responded to the brazen call to overthrow the

00:22current administration and expose the selfish motive behind such message.

00:27PTV's Kenneth Paciente has the full report.

00:31The palace is strongly objected to the statements of former President Rodrigo Duterte, urging

00:36the armed forces of the Philippines to take military action against President Ferdinand

00:40R. Marcos, Jr.

00:41In his press conference last night, Duterte called on the military to act on what he described

00:46as a fractured government, claiming that only they could fix it.

00:50Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin expressed shock over this blatant call from the former

00:54president.

00:55He added that no motive could be more selfish than seeking to oust the current president

01:00just to pave the way for his daughter to take office.

01:02By resorting to such extreme and malicious measures, including undermining the professionalism

01:07of the armed forces, by urging them to violate their sworn duties.

01:12Secretary Bersamin challenged the former president to respect the constitution and cease his

01:17irresponsible behavior.

01:19He also stressed that violent seizure of power is unacceptable.

01:22Instead, he urged the former president to wait for the right time and adhere to legitimate

01:27means.

01:28Bersamin emphasized that the current administration remains committed to its sworn duty to govern

01:32and address national affairs in accordance with the constitution and the rule of law.

01:37He assured the Marcos, Jr. administration will uphold its legacy through legal and just

01:41means, while taking decisive action against all illegal attempts that threaten the nation's

01:45welfare and law and order.

01:47Meanwhile, in the House of Representatives, lawmakers also condemned the former president's

01:52remarks.

01:53They said that instead of calling for unity, he appears to be sowing division.

01:57It's an old tune, no one believes it, no one will join it, because the people have more

02:04problems that need to be fixed, which is what we are doing now, so that they don't get

02:10involved in the problems of the country.

02:13I'm not sure if he should even be dignified with a serious consideration.

02:19I also have full trust and confidence in our armed forces that they will stay true to their

02:25oath to protect and uphold the constitution.

02:28The order, the suggestion is very much against the constitution, so I don't think even the

02:33AFP will take that seriously.

02:35They challenged the Duterte camp to stick to the issue and just address the misuse of

02:40confidential funds instead of distracting from the matter.

02:43This is another diversionary tactics to cover up the real issue that our vice president

02:50is facing.

02:51We think that because of the heavy issues of our vice president, he needs the help of

02:59his father.

03:00The only thing we can say is, he will just explain how the confidential fund was used.
