00:10a man who's admitted to drugging and raping his wife Giselle Pellicot over a period of
00:15ten years and inviting strangers to rape her as well.
00:19Prosecutors want him to face the maximum 20 years in jail for the crime of aggravated
00:25rape, which came without surprise according to his lawyer as they left court.
00:31Prosecutors also started making their sentencing request for the 50 other accused in this case,
00:36most of them also facing charges of aggravated rape or gang rape.
00:41Many of those in this first group that prosecutors got through this Monday, they asked for ten
00:46years in jail for these men.
00:49Prosecutors also repeated the main arguments of the defendants that they made throughout
00:52the trial, many focusing on the fact that they did not know that Giselle Pellicot did
00:57not in fact consent.
01:00The prosecutors, however, said that it's just not possible to believe that these men did
01:04not know that she didn't consent given that she was unconscious at the time and that,
01:09you know, in 2024 we shouldn't still believe that because a woman doesn't say anything
01:13that that means that she gives her consent.
01:17Now sentencing requests for the rest of the accused will continue on Tuesday before defense
01:22lawyers give their closing arguments later in the week.
