Crawley Town beat Rotherham United at the Broadfield Stadium to jump out of the League One relegation zone. Here is defener Charlie Barker's post-match press conference
Transcript
00:00Charlie, really good win today, what's your reaction to the win and the assessment of
00:05the performance?
00:06Yeah, really good. I thought we played some really good football in the first half. It
00:09was tough second half against the wind, it was tough to get out at times but we stood
00:13up to the challenge, defended our box really well.
00:15Yeah, it's a really important three points, it's got you out of the relegation zone, how
00:19much of a boost is that just seeing the table and seeing you out of that zone?
00:22Yeah, it mattered. I think the last few weeks have been good, three draws, we probably deserved
00:26a bit more. So now to put a win in there, the last four league games had some really
00:32good results so it's really positive.
00:34Yeah, and I think it's three clean sheets out of the last four in the league, that must
00:38be really pleasing in how you're playing with Joy and Toby.
00:42Yeah, it just shows that we've come a long way because we were conceding a lot of goals
00:46and we looked at ourselves and said we need to sort that out so I think the last four
00:51games I think we've done that really well.
00:53Yeah, and since you've come in you've sort of had to bide your time a little bit, I mean
00:57injuries have meant that you've been playing in that but you must be really pleased with
01:00how you're performing personally, especially today.
01:02Yeah, it's just nice to get the chance and then when the chance came I just try and make
01:07the most of it and try and keep my face in the team.
01:09Yeah, have you sent a message to your dad yet?
01:12No, I haven't spoken to him yet.
01:14Yeah, is he quite pleased to get one over Roberham?
01:17Yeah, I think he'll be quite happy with that.
01:19Yeah, absolutely.
01:21Excellent, you've got a midweek break now, looking ahead to the FA Cup, how exciting
01:26is it to play in the FA Cup knowing that there's the incentive if you win you could get a big
01:29draw in the next round?
01:30Yeah, the second round in the FA Cup is always a massive game because the potential of the
01:35third game you never know what you could get so it's always an exciting day and anything
01:41can happen on an FA Cup day, everyone knows that so let's hope we can get the win.
01:45Yeah, and Rob Elliott's been saying that you're down to bare bones at the moment, lots of
01:48injuries and that, can you talk about how good the squad is together and get behind
01:53each other and what we saw today?
01:55Yeah, it just shows the players we're missing at the moment, obviously Junior out, Flinty,
01:59we've lost Harry, we've got loads, four, five, six out and it just shows with that many players
02:06out how we can still go out, put a performance on and I think that just shows how well everyone
02:10knows their jobs, even if they're not in the team they know what they have to do when they
02:13come into the team and everyone's fighting for a place now.
02:16Yeah, brilliant, thanks Charlie.
