00:00Multiple hazards across the UK this weekend thanks to storm Burt from heavy
00:04rain, strong winds, snow and ice and there are lots of warnings in force from the
00:09Met Office for this. So heavy rain throughout the day on Saturday
00:12accompanied by strong winds gusting up to 70 miles per hour around coastal parts
00:16will be spreading northwards across the UK. Initially as it hits cold air, heavy
00:21snows likely for Northern England and Scotland, up to 20 centimetres of snow
00:25accumulating over high ground and up to 10 centimetres to lower levels, this is
00:30likely to cause some disruption. As well as that, strong winds across these areas
00:34will cause poor visibility due to blizzards. But as that mild air from the
00:38south flows further northwards later in the day, a rapid thaw is likely from that
00:43snow across parts of Scotland and Northern England. Heavy rains are likely
00:47across parts of the south, especially across the south of Wales and southwest
00:50England where flooding is likely. But it will become milder throughout the day
00:54from the south and so it will be a mild night on Saturday night but wet and
00:58windy weather continues across much of the UK. Throughout Sunday there will
01:03still be further spells of heavy rain and strong winds spreading eastwards
01:06slowly through the day across England, Wales and eastern Scotland, eventually
01:10becoming confined to central and southeastern areas. Meanwhile from the
01:14northwest there will be bright or sunny spells developing but it will be windy
01:17with lots of showers.
