00:00Tomorrow, the GILAS Pilipinas Men's National Basketball Team will be back on the field

00:06to try and secure their spot in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

00:14But to do that, they need to beat the Hong Kong team

00:19in their second game in Window 2 of the Qualifiers.

00:23That's what Rafael Bandairel wrote.

00:26There you see the love.

00:28After beating the New Zealand Tall Blacks on Thursday night,

00:32the next assignment of the GILAS Pilipinas is to beat the Hong Kong team

00:36in the Window 2 of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.

00:40If our national team succeeds,

00:43they will be able to secure their spot in Group B.

00:46That means they will be the ones to receive the automatic qualification

00:50in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup from the group.

00:54The Hong Kong team was the first team to face the GILAS in Window 1

00:58where the Pilipinas scored 94-64.

01:03But even though the GILAS sometimes beat the Hong Kong team,

01:06according to Soto,

01:08it's still important to make sure that their card is clean.

01:13I'm just happy we got the win,

01:14and hopefully we get another one on Sunday against Hong Kong.

01:19Aside from Soto,

01:20and the highest scorer of the game, Justin Brownlee,

01:24the winning play of veteran point guard Scotty Thompson

01:27is also a big factor in beating the GILAS against the New Zealand team.

01:31According to head coach Tim Cohn,

01:33this proves that Thompson's style of playing is effective

01:37on the international stage,

01:39which is different from what his critics say.

01:43I remember a time,

01:44and I remember this time very distinctly,

01:46where there was a lot of talk about Scotty can't play in the international game.

01:50I don't know if you guys remember that.

01:51A lot of people are saying he can't play in the international game

01:55because he can't shoot.

01:59But in my mind, there's never been any doubt.

02:02And in his mind, there's never been any doubt.

02:04The thing with Scotty is you can look at video all you want

02:08until you actually get on the floor and play against him.

02:11You don't realize what he's doing out there on the floor.

02:16the GILAS definitely won on Sunday

02:18because they sometimes dominated Hong Kong in Window 1.

02:24is proof that the Philippines are still the kings of basketball in Asia

02:28in their match in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.
