00:00Tomorrow, the Guilas-Filipinas Men's National Basketball Team will be back in action

00:04to try and secure their spot in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

00:11To do so, they need to beat Hong Kong in their second game in the Window-2 Qualifiers.

00:18Here is my report.

00:24After beating the New Zealand Tall Blacks on Thursday night,

00:28the Guilas-Filipinas Men's National Basketball Team will be back in action to try and secure their spot in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

00:36If the Guilas-Filipinas Men's National Basketball Team wins,

00:39they will be able to secure their spot in the Group B.

00:42This means that they will be the ones to receive the automatic qualification

00:46for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup from the group.

00:50The Guilas-Filipinas Men's National Basketball Team was the first team to beat Hong Kong in the Window-1 Qualifiers

00:54where the Filipinos scored 94-64.

00:59However, even though the Guilas-Filipinas Men's National Basketball Team beat Hong Kong,

01:02according to Soto, it is still important to ensure that they will remain clean-cut.

01:08I'm just happy we got the win and hopefully we get another one on Sunday against Hong Kong.

01:14Aside from Soto and the highest scorer of the game, Justin Brownlee,

01:19the Guilas-Filipinas Men's National Basketball Team also played a major role in beating New Zealand

01:23in the winning play of veteran point guard Scotty Thompson.

01:26According to head coach Tim Cohn,

01:28this proves that Thompson's style of playing on the international stage is effective,

01:34contrary to what his critics say.

01:38I remember a time, and I remember this time very distinctly,

01:41where there was a lot of talk about Scotty can't play in the international game.

01:45I don't know if you guys remember that.

01:46But there were a lot of people saying he can't play in the international game because he can't shoot.

01:54But in my mind, there's never been any doubt.

01:57And in his mind, there's never been any doubt.

01:59The thing with Scotty is you can look at video all you want.

02:03Until you actually get on the floor and play against him,

02:06you don't realize what he's doing out there on the floor.

02:10In the eyes of many, the Guilas-Filipinas Men's National Basketball Team is sure to win this week

02:14because they once dominated Hong Kong in the Window 1.

02:18But their next challenge is to prove that the Philippines are still the kings of basketball in Asia

02:24in their clash in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.
