00:00Okay, let's have a frank conversation right now.
00:05I know there's a lot of you out there that cannot stand Christmas.
00:10Christmas jumpers, Christmas decorations, Christmas food, Christmas pet gear and Christmas
00:16songs.
00:17Yeah, I hear you out there.
00:19It's not the most wonderful time of the year when you're being inundated with the onslaught
00:23of festive jingles and saccharine takes how great Christmas is all the while getting into
00:28fights in supermarket aisles for that last Christmas pudding.
00:33So for the benefit of those that don't want a holly jolly Christmas, you can take solace
00:37in the fact that there are plenty more out there with you, and some of which have gone
00:42on record to state what is the worst Christmas song they feel has been released.
00:49Science part for a moment.
00:51Across November 2024, Research Without Barriers spoke to 2,000 people over the age of 18 and
00:57asked them, well, what their most disliked Christmas song is.
01:02And knowing there's little fear of reprisals, the majority of them answered, Mariah Carey's
01:08All I Want For Christmas Is You.
01:10Yeah, I couldn't believe it either, given the amount of times it's being played.
01:15But 19.5% of those responded with that answer.
01:19Now, to put that into perspective, that's one out of your five friends or family members
01:25who are clenching their teeth when the song ends up being played at a Christmas party
01:29or a family gathering.
01:31In second place, but trailing way behind by 7.5%, was Justin Bieber's song Mistletoe.
01:38While many of you think by now people do know it's Christmas, we're found they'd been chosen
01:43as the third most disliked Christmas song.
01:46Controversially, the classic fairy tale of New York was regarded as the fourth most disliked
01:52Christmas song.
01:53Though, admittedly, even I get a little excited at first when Wizards' I Wish It Would Be
01:57Christmas Every Day First gets played on the radio.
02:00For 10.9% of you out there, you're glad it's not Christmas Every Day, because you don't
02:05want to hear that song every day.
02:08Rounding out the top 10, and there's a couple of controversial names in here.
02:12John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Happy Christmas War Is Over, 10.6% of you don't like that
02:18song, Christmas Time, Don't Let The Bells End By The Darkness, A Holly Jolly Christmas
02:23By Burt Ives, Feliz Navidad By Jose Feliciano, and Come An Intent, Last Christmas By Wham.
02:32I thought you all loved that.
02:34So there you have it.
02:36Despite becoming very much a Christmas tradition, many of you are hoping that at some point
02:40in our lifetime, Mariah does manage to get that person for Christmas, and then maybe
02:45we'll stop hearing about it.
02:47To the pleasure of 19.5% of you, of course.
02:51So what's my dislike Christmas track?
02:52Well, I can tell you what it's not, Christmas By Froggy Fresh and Moneymaker Mike.
02:57I mean, it pretty saddens that they're not up for contention this year, but hey, there's
03:02always 2025, right?
