00:00The strong relationship of the Philippines will remain despite the change of administration.

00:05This is what U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin III promised after his visit to the country.

00:11Yesterday, the official in Palawan visited the country where he was shown the fruits of the U.S. defense and security assistance in our country.

00:21Patrick Desus is in the center of the news.

00:25Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III visited the AFP Western Command in Palawan.

00:33This is part of his two-day visit to the Philippines before he left for the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting Plaza, Laos.

00:41During Austin's visit, he again strengthened the ironclad relationship between the Philippines and America.

00:48U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is about to sit down.

00:52But for Austin, the alliance between the Philippines and America will remain despite the change of administration.

01:19What I will tell you is that this is an important country, not only to me but to people in both parties back in the United States.

01:28We have built institutions particularly faster in the last two years with a view towards a robust and ongoing and enduring alliance.

01:40Enduring here is what is the operative word since our interests converge in this part of the world.

01:48Defense Secretary Givotio Toro said that China's ships in the West Philippine Sea are being harassed more aggressively.

01:56Austin's advice is right and he is in charge of it.

02:00According to him, he undermined America's commitment to the Mutual Defense Treaty.

02:05The Mutual Defense Treaty applies to armed attacks on either of our armed forces, aircraft, or public vessels, including our Coast Guards, anywhere in the South China Sea.

02:18Meanwhile, Austin and Toro also showed the new T-12 Unmanned Surface Vessel of the Philippine Navy.

02:25It is a product of the Defense and Security Assistance from America.

02:29It is a type of drone boat for navigation and detection that can be used to guard the Philippine Sea.

02:38All of this will help our operational commanders to increase their technological capacity.

02:47Since the battle is a multi-minded one, that is what we want to happen.
