00:00Ekonomiya ng Bansa, ngayong fourth quarter, at Balikbayan 2024 OFW Summit,

00:07ating tatalakayin kasama si Sir Joey Concepcion, GoNegosyo founder at private sector lead for jobs.

00:15Sir Joey, magandang tanghali po sa inyo.

00:20Good afternoon.

00:22Para po sa mga ordinaryong Pilipino,

00:24paano po ninyo iye-explain itong aasahang economic growth ng Pilipinas ngayong fourth quarter?

00:33Well, ang tingin ko, normally the fourth quarter is the strongest quarter every year dahil sa Christmas.

00:43So, yung Christmas spending, talagang importante yan.

00:48Maraming talagang nagbibigay ng mga regalo sa mga relatives at kahibigan nila.

00:54So, that has started already.

00:57At sa negosyo namin dito sa RFM, yung pagbibenta namin ng mga gift packages, mga pagkain, lahat yan, talagang ang lakas ng benta ngayon.

01:10So, we see this year even stronger than last year.

01:14So, medyo talagang mukhang magandang itong Christmas.

01:18May mga pera ang tao na talagang their spending to give gifts, hindi katulad yung pandemia, talagang matuba lang negosyo.

01:30Pero now, you can see very strong consumer spending.

01:33Okay, kahit po may mga dumadaing na ang mahal po na mga bilihin ngayon?

01:39Well, syempre yung mga OFWs natin sila, of course with the foreign exchange, USD being stronger, mas malaki ang kita nila.

01:51Ang dami natin ng mga OFWs na bumabalik dito for Christmas and of course they're all bringing mga pasalubong.

02:01They will also be one of the bigger consumers right now because they're getting I would say 10% more from their dollar that they earn or whatever currency.

02:15Mas malakas yung currency ng US ngayon in case of Philippines.

02:19So, it's giving them more abilities to spend.

02:22So, it's not only the Filipinos that live here that are spending.

02:27But malaking bakit yung OFWs because they want to make their families happy.

02:33Okay, dito naman po sa isinabatas na Create More Act. Paano po ito makakatulong sa ekonomiya ng bansa?

02:42Well, I think the move of the government really is to really incentivize the negosiantes.

02:52That's very important.

02:54And for the entrepreneurs, especially the medium and large businesses, expanding their businesses will create more jobs.

03:06And providing incentives, tax incentives to the private sector is a good way of stimulating.

03:14And that's what we want to see.

03:16And I see that right now.

03:18We had a meeting with our Agribig brothers just two days ago in RFM.

03:25And these are the top 20 of big companies.

03:29Kasama dyan, San Miguel, BLDT lahat.

03:33And very bullish sila sa agrikultura.

03:35And that is very important.

03:37That's the biggest challenging sector that we have, our farmers.

03:43And malaking tulong dito ang mga malaking agri-companies.

03:47Kasi sila nang bibigay ng mentorship at nang puhunan minsan sa mga contract growers nila.

03:54So they feel that pata itong bagong memorandum of agreement that we signed with Secretary Estrella,

04:04there will be lands that are owned by the government,

04:08that now can be accessed by itong mga big agri-companies

04:14who will give the farmers these lands.

04:19And they will now be attached to them as contract growers and for contract farmers.

04:25So that's another area of big opportunity.

04:27Because agri is the biggest challenge that we have as a country.

04:31Now if these farmers were able to scale them up to become not only micro-farmers,

04:35but small or medium-sized farmers,

04:39then it's a great help to the economy, especially in the rural areas

04:43where many of these farmers are.

04:48Agriculture is the biggest game-changer if we really support our farmers.

04:52Alright, dito naman po sa isang analysis, Sir Joey, ng isang international bank,

04:58nakikita po ang 5.5% na consumption growth sa Pilipinas ngayong fourth quarter.

05:04Ano po ang ibig sabihin nito at ano po ang kahalagahan nito para po sa ating ekonomiya?

05:12Well, consumption is very important.

05:16Consumers have to spend.

05:18If we hold back and just save,

05:22then it's also good, but it's not good for the economy.

05:26So it's good that not only our OFWs who are remitting money here to the country,

05:32but of course, when people see more confidence in the economy,

05:38and especially in the leadership, especially under President Marcos,

05:43he is definitely a good leader helping MSMEs,

05:47then they will want to invest in the Philippines.

05:51Primarily, buying a home would be one of their first major things.

05:55And now, this coming Christmas, I mean, everybody wants to celebrate Christmas.

06:01That's a very Filipino tradition.

06:03And of course, they will have to buy your noche buena and all of that.

06:10Those are sacred dito sa mga pamily lang natin.

06:14So Christmas is one of those very festive years

06:18that we see a lot of consumers spend money on.

06:23Sa ibang usapin naman po,

06:25kailan namang magaganap itong Balikbayan 2024 OFW Summit?

06:31At ano-ano po ang mga activities na inihanda po para dito?

06:36Well, we invited the First Lady and the President.

06:43We don't know if they will come.

06:45We, of course, invited a lot of content creators, influencers,

06:54so that itong mga Balikbayans natin who are here for a vacation

07:01can see anong negosyo that is safe for them to get into.

07:06Kasi karamihan ng mga OFWs natin, they send money to their families.

07:12Pero we are trying to see if there are some of them na may talent

07:17at may mga business ideas,

07:19diyan kami pwedeng tubulog sa kanila to provide them mentors.

07:23So this is going to happen on December 7.

07:28It's a full day of different content creators and influencers

07:35so that they can know from even the far places they are in

07:39that they can even be influencers,

07:44especially if they are in different countries

07:48that they can think of a business idea

07:51and help their families with that business idea.

07:55Karamihan ng mga ideas which are generated from overseas.

07:59Itong mga negosyo natin dito, mga franchise,

08:03are basically concepts from overseas.

08:07So these are things that we would like to help our overseas workers

08:12that they have the chance of eventually their savings,

08:16part of their savings, not all of their savings,

08:18would go into starting a business that they have the skill for.
