00:00The committee in the chamber approved the bill that prohibits POGOs in the country.
00:05The Bureau of Immigration is investigating the new mode of returning POGO workers.
00:11This is Jonathan Andal's breaking news.
00:15The motion is approved.
00:17The House Committee on Games and Amusement approved the bill that prohibits POGOs.
00:24According to PAGCOR, there are already 27 POGOs operating, but they are in the process of closing down.
00:30According to DOLE, 30,000 Pinoy POGO workers are affected.
00:34DOLE has a program for them, like this job fair in a mall in Pasay,
00:39which has more than 12,000 jobs for Pinoy former POGO workers.
00:4520,000 foreign POGO workers have already been downgraded from working to being a tourist visa,
00:51according to the Bureau of Immigration.
00:53More than 10,000 of them have already left the Philippines.
00:56But a congressman reported that there is a new mode.
01:01There is a new mode in the BI.
01:05It's called back-to-back racket.
01:08The POGO workers who leave the Philippines are also returned when the papers are fixed.
01:14Is that report true?
01:17We have to consult on this, Mr. Chair.
01:21Actually, this is the first time we came across that report.
01:24According to DOLE, they have already cancelled the 36,000 AEP, or Alien Employment Permit, in POGO.
01:31And if there are still any left, it is considered expired.
01:34If a legislator wants to clarify,
01:36are the special class BPOs, which are gaming companies, also included in the POGO ban?
01:43As mentioned, this is an emerging type.
01:47It is also offshore.
01:49But it is not like how POGO is now.
01:55So, where should we draw the line?
01:59What should be banned?
02:01What should not be banned?
02:02So, I think, Mr. Chair, that is one of the things that should be clear.
02:07Now, the committee approved the bill against POGO.
02:10Next, it will be brought to the plenary for debate and voting.
02:15Jonathan Andal, reporting for GMA Integrated News.
