00:00We need to ask the question, is it true that some of the leaders or the main leaders in PH are actually illiberal?
00:13This is the question raised by former UMNO Youth Chief Kari Jamaluddin after noting that many of the major reforms that had been implemented were put in place by Barisan Nasional.
00:24Kari said many of the reforms had been carried out by former Prime Ministers Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak.
00:31So reform is not alien to UMNO also.
00:33Although there may be a large part of the party that is resistant or does not agree, but it has happened.
00:40Kari said this in response to speculation that the government wants to amend the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984.
00:48According to media rights groups, the amendments include reinstating the mandatory three-year media license renewal requirements for media companies.
00:57It also included extending the definition of publication to digital and electronic content.
