00:00Hello, my name is Alexander Brown. I'm the Scotsman's Westminster Correspondent and I'm
00:04here on Whitehall where there is a huge rally from angry farmers who come from all over
00:09the UK and protest at the agriculture changes, the agricultural inheritance tax announced
00:16in the budget. Speaking to people here, there is real anger at warnings that actually this
00:21is not about super rich farmers and their lands who've been afforded to pay more. This
00:26is businesses that need to pass on that land. It's a long term thing and it will see farms
00:30go over, it will impact our food, it will impact our productivity and it will see businesses
00:35die. Earlier I interviewed someone from NFU Scotland, its Vice President, who told me
00:39that they'll be meeting with the Scottish Secretary in Moray, they'll be meeting with
00:44lots of Scottish MPs and talking about how big the turnout was and how they hadn't anticipated
00:49the turnout to be this big. But people have come from all over. There is such a real sense
00:54of anger. Getting into Westminster, they've closed roads. You can see where here I'm filming
00:58on Whitehall, behind the camera there are roads being shut because there are so many
01:01people here. Getting in at Westminster Station is so busy you can't get in or out. It takes
01:05bloody ages. I'm wearing a barber jacket as you may see, so is everyone else. I've never
01:11seen so much tweed, plaid, quilted jackets, flat caps. I've even seen people with pints.
01:18There is a real defiant mood. It's like a rugby game, really. A lot more angry. People
01:25who just really feel like they had no consultation, they had no warning this was going to happen
01:29and now feel like their livelihood is going to be taken away from them and that they are
01:32having a profound impact on Britain's ability to create its own produce, which obviously
01:37is quite severe. I think Kemi Badenoch will be speaking to those at the rally later on.
01:42I know that lots of Royal MPs will be meeting with them as well, but generally the feeling
01:46is one of real anger. I've seen a lot of reform posters, I've seen a lot of Tory blue
01:50and a lot of people who are very angry and thinking that maybe this is a turning point,
01:55this is the biggest first test for the Prime Minister. For all that and more, stay tuned
01:59to thescottsland.com where I'll be writing up the interview. You'll get to read all about
02:02it later on today.
