Early morning report from The Star on how Sheffield is handling the disruption brought on by overnight snow - the roads are running, the schools are mostly just opening late and the public transport is largely in service.

00:00Morning Sheffield, it's Alistair from the Sheffield Star. Good morning, welcome to a
00:04very wintry scene here in Sheffield, really rather the first shock of the winter I suppose.
00:08It's really come out of nowhere. Despite all predictions by the Met Office that the snow
00:12wouldn't settle because of yesterday's sleety conditions, look at that! We've got about,
00:16I don't know, an inch and a half of snow across most areas. This is where I'm standing in right
00:20now. We're currently looking at all the disruptions it might bring. So far things are looking quite
00:24good. There was a lot of gritting out last night so all the major roads seem to be doing quite well.
00:28That's going to get worse as the traffic intensifies over the day, so maybe interruptions
00:34before long. That goes for schools as well. Most schools are so far saying they're going to be
00:38open as normal. Quite a few are saying they're going to be open at 10 or 10.30 instead to allow
00:42the conditions to get a little better. So check with your school's website and see if they're
00:47going to be doing delayed openings or opening at all, but mostly everything seems okay.
00:51Turning to the weather, it's going to be a sunny day they say. Starting at around 9 or 10 the
00:57cloud is going to clear up and it's going to be pretty unbroken sunshine for most of the day,
01:00which may take care of a lot of what's around us. So settled snow, but the disruption seems
01:06quite mild so far. Doesn't seem to have really hit us so badly. The roads seem to be handling it well,
01:11the buses don't seem to be too badly disrupted and the schools seem to be open.
01:15This all may change as the day goes on and more traffic hits the roads which may cause
01:19more disruption, but for the meantime just enjoy the view I suppose. Just a nice wintry
01:24scene out here otherwise.
