00:00Let's find out what the government is doing regarding the incoming typhoon called Pepito.
00:07Let's get an update from OCD Administrator, Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno.
00:16Good evening.
00:18Good evening to our countrymen. Good evening.
00:23Sir Ariel, what are your preparedness and response protocols for the effects of the Pepito?
00:31First and foremost, we got the cooperation of our countrymen through local government units in Regions 1, 2, 3 and Region 5.
00:45They were able to conduct a pre-emptive evacuation there by 12,299 families or 41,163 of our countrymen.
00:58Our countrymen are not yet fully evacuated due to the Christin.
01:04So we added more people to join the pre-emptive evacuation.
01:11As of now, we still have more than 26,100 plus individuals in the evacuation centers or 8,404 families.
01:24That's the first important thing we need to prepare for in order to avoid having another massacre week due to the heavy rain that could bring the Pepito.
01:36Second, our DSWD is ready. We are happy with the news because the DBM also downloaded the order of President Bongbong Marcos to add the need for a DSWD.
01:51The DSWD is ready for our family food packs. It's ready because the DSWD is ready nationwide.
02:02However, due to the continuous storm, this is the sixth and Pepito is the seventh since the beginning of the storm.
02:10We are not worried about the supply of non-food items and food items from the DSWD.
02:21The third thing we are preparing is how we can bring our countrymen the assistance they need, if ever there's a situation like what happened to Christin.
02:34We deployed many rubber boats. Thank you to our uniformed personnel.
02:39Our uniformed personnel are prepositioned in their strategic points of deployment.
02:51What resources and assistance are being prepared for the possible effects of the storm?
02:57Do we have medical teams on standby?
03:00You also mentioned the challenge in bringing these supplies. What is our contingency plan?
03:06That's right. First, the water. We are ready for that because that's what our countrymen need.
03:14Second, the family food packs of course from the DSWD.
03:18The non-food items, especially the hygiene kits, came from the Office of Civil Defense and Department of Health.
03:24The Department of Health also has medical teams that will be deployed if needed.
03:30What's important here is that our countrymen will not see the full coordination of the government agencies that will respond with the LGUs.
03:42Actually, we are not separating anymore. We are almost in an inter-agency coordinating cell in Camp Aguinaldo.
03:50Next time, there will be no going home.
03:53Our coordination is stronger now because it was ordered by Secretary Gilbert Cedoro,
04:01the IACC, the full coordination of our countrymen, especially our uniformed services.
04:11What are the OCD's preparations, especially that there is a possibility that the Pipito earthquake will hit Metro Manila?
04:18Yes. The OCD is currently continuing to lower the warning and information dissemination to our fellow local government units,
04:29including Metro Manila because the projection, the forecast, the hope is that on Saturday night or afternoon,
04:38the Pipito earthquake will hit.
04:40Although the OCD is looking at the possibility that it will hit Samar and Bicol areas,
04:44but there is a possibility that it will hit Metro Manila.
04:48We are lowering the important information to our fellow local government units.
04:54Because even in the NCR, they are not doing preemptive evacuation, especially in the cities of Marikina, low-lying areas of Pamanaba,
05:05including the areas not only in Metro Manila, but also in Region 3, Bulacan area.
05:15Thank you very much OCD Administrator Yusec Ariel Nepomuceno.
