00:00According to the Agriculture Department, more than Php 10 billion has already been spent on the construction of a flood-affected building in the country.
00:08Meanwhile, the arrival of the next typhoon has not changed according to expectations.
00:14This is what Ryan Lesigas reported.
00:18The Department of Agriculture or the D.A. promised immediate assistance for those who will be affected by the next typhoons that will hit the country.
00:26According to the latest D.A. data, more than Php 10 billion has already been spent on the construction of the flood-affected buildings in Baguio-Cristian and Baguio-Marose.
00:34According to the estimated value, almost 60% of the total cost of the construction of the flood-affected buildings is Php 6 billion.
00:42The Commodity Banner Programs of the Department of Agriculture have buffer seeds in every region.
00:50So that is the main thing we are mobilizing so that we could provide immediate support.
00:55But as to when it is cleared and they would really assess the extent of the damage,
01:02we are also accepting proposals for rehabilitations that we are entering under the quick response fund.
01:09The damage to agriculture is expected to increase, especially after the Nika typhoon.
01:15Because of this, there is a high possibility that the production of rice in the country will decrease.
01:20Meanwhile, the procession of the typhoon inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, UPAR, has not changed.
01:27At the Sinagawang Quezon City Journalist Incorporated Forum,
01:30Annalisa Solis, the Head of Climate Monitoring and Prediction of Pag-asa, said that this happened in 1951,
01:39where there were seven typhoons.
01:42Six typhoons entered the country in the same month of 1948.
01:47Solis said that what the country is experiencing now is a La Niña-like condition
01:52where the probability of rain from typhoons is increasing.
01:56So now we can see that the next typhoons that we can see are embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone.
02:04So it means that our ITC set is very active because usually these are the breeding places of tropical cyclones.
02:14This month of November, three typhoons entered the country, including the typhoon Marse, Nika, and the typhoon Ophel.
02:22Pag-asa will continue to be alert because it is expected that two to three more typhoons will hit the country by the end of the year.
02:32Ryan Liziguez for Pambansang TV in Barong, Philippines.
