00:00We have an update on the three typhoons that are being monitored inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:07We will talk to the weather specialist, Veronica Torres.
00:11Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:14Good morning also, Ms. Connie, and also to our viewers of Balitang Hali.
00:19Ms. Veronica, how can this landfall in Dilasag Aurora be affected by the fast and strong typhoon Nika?
00:27Yes, because of the speed of the typhoon Nika, it is possible that it will also emerge quickly in the ocean west of the Philippines.
00:35Although, even if it is fast, we can still feel the strong rains, especially in the northern Luzon and parts of the central Luzon area.
00:43We can also still feel the strong winds, even if it is fast.
00:47That is why we are always up to date on the weather.
00:51Aside from Dilasag Aurora, where else can we feel the direct effects of the typhoon Nika?
00:59Aside from the Aurora area, we also have high signals.
01:05The highest tropical cyclone wind signal is signal number 4.
01:12Mostly, we experience signal number 4 in the northernmost portion of Aurora, central and southern portion of Isabela,
01:21in Calinga, mountain province, northern portion of Icugao, central and southern portion of Abra, northern and central portion of Ilocos Sur.
01:30Meanwhile, signal number 3 in the central portion of Aurora, northern portion of Quirino, northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya,
01:39southwestern portion of Cagayan, southern portion of Apayau, northern portion of Abra, northern portion of Ipugao,
01:47northern portion of Benguet, southern portion of Ilocos Norte and northern portion of Ilocos Sur.
01:53Signal number 2 in the northwestern portion of Cagayan, northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya,
01:59the rest of Quirino, northern portion of Apayau, northern portion of Benguet, northern portion of Ilocos Norte,
02:05La Union, northeastern portion of Pagasinan, central portion of Aurora, northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya.
02:12And signal number 1 in the Babuyan Islands, mainland Cagayan, the rest of Aurora, the rest of Nueva Vizcaya,
02:21Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, the northern and central portion of Zampales, Metro Manila, Rizal, eastern portion of Laguna,
02:30northern and eastern portion of Quezon, as well as the Colilio Islands.
02:35Aside from the signal, we also released a weather advisory where we expect intense to torrential rains.
02:43So if there's intense to torrential rains, we expect widespread incidents of severe flooding and landslides.
02:50So that's expected in the areas of Aurora, Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, Ipugao, Mountain Province, Calinga, and Apayau.
02:59Heavy to intense rains, so 100 to 200 millimeters of rain in Mayabra, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union.
03:07Potential impacts, numerous flooding events, especially in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near rivers.
03:15Landslides likely in moderate to highly susceptible areas, and moderate to heavy rains in Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, and Pangasinan.
03:25Tomorrow, the areas that we have a weather advisory, so heavy to intense rains in Ilocos Norte, and moderate to heavy rains in Ilocos Sur, Apayau, and up.
03:37But Ms. Veronica, it's not just two, but three bad weather events that we are monitoring. Is this a normal weather system or phenomenon?
03:47Yes. So for now, we don't have any in the area of La Nina, but like what was mentioned earlier, it's almost La Nina-like what's happening.
03:57So if something like that happens, it's possible that the number of floods will increase in our Philippine area of responsibility.
04:08All right. Thank you very much for your update on us. That was Veronica Torres of Pag-asa.
