00:00Now, let's go back to the AFP for their preparations for the possible effects of the typhoon Marseille
00:06and updates on their operations.
00:09We know that Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla is with us, the spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
00:16Colonel Padilla, good afternoon to you.
00:20Good afternoon, Ma'am. Good afternoon to all of our viewers.
00:24Okay, this time around, what are the preparations that the Armed Forces of the Philippines made for the typhoon Marseille?
00:34Yes, Ma'am. Our Philippine Armed Forces deployed multiple units nationwide
00:40to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster response
00:44to the rise of the typhoon Christine and the effects of the typhoon Leon.
00:54Now, we are on standby in Marseille.
00:58Our Philippine Army mobilized our rescue teams from different infantry divisions.
01:05Our 5th to 5th Combat Engineer Battalion, led by Colonel Bautista,
01:12is our specialized urban search and rescue team.
01:16All of these were deployed and the others are on standby
01:21in order to assist in relief efforts and the search and rescue operations that need be.
01:27Can you describe to us the type of equipment that the AFP is preparing
01:33for your airlift and rescue operations?
01:36And what are the pre-positioned assets of the AFP for now?
01:41So here, our pre-positioned assets, of course,
01:45in the typhoon Christine, we're gearing towards its recovery,
01:51rehabilitation of our damaged infrastructures.
01:54So our pre-positioned assets are our engineering brigade assets.
01:59We also have our trucks, army trucks.
02:02And the areas that were destroyed, our rubber boats are also pre-positioned there.
02:09When it comes to Marseille, we have air assets that are on standby.
02:17When it's flyable, we will deploy it.
02:20We have around 56 land assets and 209 sea assets.
02:25This is a combination of resources and equipment from the AFP, the PCG, DILG, BSWD, and OCD.
02:34Here, ma'am, we will wait for our deployment according to OCD
02:40so that the effort here is joint and coordinated.
02:45Okay. How did the AFP help the communities in Bicol region
02:51after the severe tropical storm Christine?
02:57Here, ma'am, we immediately launched our efforts to recover and support the affected areas.
03:03The units of the AFP will continue their search and rescue operations, retrieval,
03:10and distribution of relief goods,
03:15over and above that, clearing the roads,
03:19and the immediate recovery of our important infrastructures.
03:25Here, under the guidance of the local government and our partner agencies,
03:31we expanded our help to reach the affected communities.
03:40Colonel Francais, we also asked for an update on the assistance of the AFP in retrieval operations,
03:45especially to the people who are missing due to the severe tropical storm Christine.
03:50How is it now?
03:53Yes, ma'am. We have deployed search, rescue, and retrieval efforts and teams.
03:58It has been very extensive.
04:00We have 28 squads, around 1,409 teams,
04:06and 3,176 assets from the AFP and DFP.
04:11We deployed them since October 25.
04:15We have more than 2,000 SRR teams
04:20and 4,000 SRR assets on standby.
04:25Our force multipliers, our reservists here in the area,
04:32also played a big role in our search, rescue, and retrieval operations.
04:41Alright. In other talks, we have a question from the GMA Newsdesk.
04:46What does the AFP expect under the Trump administration?
04:54Normally, the Armed Forces of the Philippines,
04:58we do not comment on political matters,
05:01but in terms of the Armed Forces of the Philippines
05:05and of course our multilateral and bilateral treaties with the United States,
05:11they have been allies of our country for a very long time.
05:17We have seen a trend there because we have been allies with the U.S. for a long time in terms of our treaties.
05:25Even though the presidents have changed,
05:28because these are locked in stone, so to speak, our treaties,
05:32our activities with them are continuous.
05:35They honor the treaties we have signed together.
05:42You have seen that through the years, we have been actively performing exercises.
05:47They have also been assisting us in HAPR operations
05:50and other exercises of the Armed Forces of the Philippines together with the United States.
05:57Okay. Let's go back to your relief efforts in Baguio.
06:03Christine, in Bicol Region,
06:05do you have stories that you can share with us
06:08that are specific to what the AFP has done to our countrymen there
06:12that can also help others learn from your rescue efforts
06:18and maybe you have an inspiring story that you can share with us?
06:24Ma'am, we have seen the heroism and sacrifice of our soldiers
06:31despite the fact that even our units that are in the area are also affected.
06:37Even our own camp, let's assume that they are also victims of this incident.
06:45But despite that, our soldiers really went out of their way to look after the welfare of our countrymen.
06:54Your Armed Forces of the Philippines will continue to work tirelessly
07:00while we are waking up from the effects of Hurricane Christine.
07:03Even though our troops are tired,
07:06we are still moving our forces to prepare for the effects of Hurricane Marseille.
07:16Here, we are mobilizing our resources,
07:21even in areas that can't be crossed by our army trucks,
07:26and deep, we use the rubber boats.
07:28We have seen the stories of heroism, sacrifice,
07:32and the efforts of various agencies to help our countrymen
07:39and mitigate the effects of Hurricane Christine.
07:46Please send your message to our countrymen who are affected by Hurricane Marseille.
07:53To our countrymen, rest assured that your Armed Forces of the Philippines are here for you.
08:01We will mobilize our necessary resources for Hurricane Marseille
08:06in coordination with other relevant agencies.
08:11We will continue our recovery efforts.
08:14Your Armed Forces of the Philippines,
08:17we will remain vigilant and prepared for the upcoming challenges.
08:22Our request to you is to follow the advisories of our government
08:28to avoid the severe effects of this situation.
08:32Our commitment here is to protect and support our communities,
08:38unwavering our commitment.
08:41When Hurricane Marseille arrives,
08:43we are ready to act quickly in order to safeguard the lives
08:49and provide assistance wherever needed.
08:51Your Armed Forces of the Philippines are here for you.
08:55Thank you very much for the bravery of each soldier
08:59who was part of the relief and rescue operations.
09:02We know that these things are not easy.
09:05Thank you very much for your time,
09:07Colonel Francel Margaret Padilla,
09:09the spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
