00:24The Bicol region will rise,

00:26a vow President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. assured during his return visit to Camarines Sur a couple weeks after Typhoon Christine's onslaught.

00:34The President assured that the government will not stop taking steps to restore normal conditions in the region damaged by Typhoon Christine.

00:41He emphasized the need for a proactive approach to prevent widespread flooding due to climate change.

00:46Likewise, he issued directives to the DPWH to study revisions to the master plan of the Bicol River Basin Development Project

00:54to prevent severe flooding in the region from recurring.

01:25The DPWH, DNR, and DILG were also instructed to cooperate with local governments to ensure the project is integrated and future-ready.

01:32The chief executive also directed the DPWH, DOTR, and DTI

01:35to procure only durable and high-quality materials for the construction of the Bicol River Basin.

02:09The president also acknowledged the assistance received by the Philippines from other countries in the wake of the recent typhoons.

02:40as well as the private sector that is ready to participate in the expansion of government projects.

02:48Meanwhile, farmers and fisherfolk affected by the recent typhoon received financial assistance,

02:53like Salvador, whose farm went under.

02:55His investment of around P50,000 completely wasted.

02:59If you buy one hectare of land, you might lose half of it.

03:03Only 30 percent.

03:06So, what are we going to do now?

03:10The president personally handed financial aid to beneficiaries amounting to P50 million,

03:145,000 beneficiaries receiving P10,000 each.

03:18I hope that with the assistance and support we are giving you now,

03:23you will have enough resources to recover.

03:35that the DSWD will distribute to those affected by the typhoon.

03:40Those affected by the typhoon will receive P10,000,

03:455,000 farmers, fishermen, and other families affected.

03:50The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation.

03:53If the typhoon strikes again, we will buy seeds.

03:57And what else?

04:01Because we are really poor farmers.

04:06Even if we are affected by the typhoon,

04:09at least we will be able to recover.

04:12Thank you very much for your support to the farmers

04:17so that they can survive.

04:20Apart from the financial assistance from the Office of the President,

04:23the Agriculture Department also extended help such as seeds and fertilizers,

04:27as well as financial aid and indemnity checks from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.

04:32DSWD records indicate over 400,000 family food packs have been distributed in the Bacol region,

04:37reaching areas that went under flood waters.
