00:00Although already known as a cruise destination, the Philippines' capacity to further improve as such is something the president wants as this, in turn, will help the tourism industry and the local communities because of the multitude of economic opportunities that can be had with such undertaking.
00:19Kenneth Paciente fills us in with all the details in this report.
00:24The country will further strengthen the cruise tourism. That's what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized as he led the Sea Trade Cruise Asia 2024, an event focusing on boosting Asia's potential as a destination in the cruise industry.
00:38According to the president, while the Philippines is already recognized as a cruise destination, the government is still taking steps to make the country more popular in the sector.
00:46This includes improving ports and making tourist travel experience more comfortable, in line with the National Tourism Development Plan 2023-2028.
01:07One of the positive results of the government efforts, according to the president, is the recorded 125 cruise calls or dockings of cruise ships in the 30 Philippine destination.
01:27109 cruise calls are expected this year until 2027. This will open opportunities for the local economy, especially for the communities.
01:35We strive for each cruise call to be a chance for passengers to step into our story, taste the richness of our cuisine, dance to the rhythms of our traditions, and carry beautiful memories of the Philippines back with them.
01:51Memories that linger long after the journey ends.
01:56To the distinguished representatives of cruise lines, esteemed industry leaders, and valued partners, the Philippines extends a warm and earnest invitation to you to deepen our partnerships founded on the principles of shared success and mutual aspiration.
02:14The president is confident that the Sea Trade Cruise Asia 2024 will yield positive results.
02:20This is an opportunity to forge stronger alliances, exchange insights, construct enduring connections that will transcend borders, and continue to benefit our industries for years to come.
02:32May your participation in the Sea Trade Cruise Asia 2024 be productive and enriching, and may the collaborations we foster here today chart a transformative course for our region's cruise industry.
02:48About 40 cruise industry representatives attended the event.
02:51Kenneth Paciente, from the National TV Network, for a new and better Philippines.
